My thoughts are too controlled by words???

Yes you are right they most definitely are. That's because in the real fucking world, words have meanings, and your attempt at using them has failed miserable, most likely due to your idea that words have no meanings.

As for what you say the real point of the thread was, 2 pages into it, it also has no bearing on reality.

We (those who actually live in the real world and want to improve it) try to teach people that the meaning behind those words is wrong, but some such as yourself, get too hung up on the words and think that you are making a huge discovery that the word isn't the issue and come to share it with all us surface-thinkers.

None of that changes the simple fact that words have meanings, ALL OF THEM.

lol, why so upset? You're a funny dude.

And thought existed before language. Language is the most convent way to describe thought, but is not the only. Ever hear of this thing they got called art? I wonder what that whole scene is about.

This isn't chicken or egg shit man. It's just a different perspective on something you'd probably agree with if I worded it differently.

Upset? Odd how you go from claiming words have no meaning to claiming to be able to read feelings into them...

Do you always argue with people by going along with them?

So now you jump from words meaning nothing to art meaning something???

A different perspective, yeah, I'll go along with that... mine is from the perspective of reality.

Your stated thought when this started was that words didn't mean anything at all. It was all the 'intent' behind the words, and any set of sounds would do as long as the intent was there.

Then it was that words do have meanings, but only in terms of being distractions from the ideas they represent.

    Now it's art has meaning...

I get it now... you fell down and banged your head didn't you? It's okay, you can tell us... we won't laugh...

    much

You are making my day. You realizing your argument is proving my point every step of the way?

You don't even know what the fuck I'm talking about. You're just so far off base about everything that you think I'm saying I just wanna put you behind a display window and say "See?" to passers-by.

"A-Hur-hur, you're using words to say words mean nothing. Hur hur."

No man, that's not what I'm doing, at all. And thank you again.

    Or are you not done?

Edit: I can't be the only one who appreciates the irony of this dude arguing against something I didn't really even say? In the context of this thread that's fucking hilarious

part of the problem is that the amerenglish language is so slimy every word has mutiple meanings, interpretations, implications and on and on. and then of course, too many people seem to thing putting a name to something equals having some kind of an idea about it. its an ego thing to. people invent names out of thin air for things no one knows anything about, which in some cases may be ok, as an acknowledgment that there's something there, but then to pretend they know anything about a complete unknown because they've invented a name for it, this is where the ego really runs off and deceives itself.

"god" is an obvious example, but i'm sure there are many many others. everything that gets called para/meta anything is an example too. not that there isn't or can't be something there. it's just the denial of what is pretended to be known about it is just that, pretending, even if and when it becomes a widely popular mutual pretending.

Words are symbols, just like pictures.

Roots wasn't racist even though it had racist imagery.
A person's message shouldn't be taken as offensive because it has words you don't like. It's all in the meaning of the message - the symbols used to make it should not be the focus.

You want a 'last word', say something that makes sense...

I'm feeling generous, so I will explain to you the problems with pretty much everything you have said in this thread.

I would say I would talk slow for you, but that won't help seems that won't affect your end, so I suggest you read slowly, sound out any words that are unfamiliar to you, and perhaps even look up their meaning to make sure you understand this.

Your contention that words have no meanings, which is how you started off was wrong, as by the very nature of what a word IS, it has meaning.

People may disagree what that meaning is, people may percieve the same menaing differently, facial expressions and body language CAN modify the meanings of words.

Not one single bit of that negates the fact that words do have meanings.

Beyond that, I never said words were the only way to express thoughts, I never said they were the best way, and I never said that art had no meaning. These were things YOU tossed out to cover the fact that what you were saying was wrong. Perhaps it was honest confusiion on your part or perhaps it was your attempt to appear thoughtful... Doesn't really matter because it was wrong.

Do words have an inherent emotion behind them? Such as does ****** automatically convey the feeling of hate... No, they do not, but in no way does that negate their meaning.

Words without meanings are not words, they are sounds.

It may seem to you that there are many layers to the meaning of a word, but that is only because you do not apparently have enough words to convey what you are trying to say...

I would guess that is because of your disdain for words, either that or the bump on the head....

I do hope you went to the doc and got that checked.... concussion is nothing to laugh at....

You're arguing about shit that wasn't remotely my point. It's like you're taking the first sentence out of a book and writing an entire report based on that.

You're so off base in everything you're saying and everything you think I'm saying. You're not getting it, you're not going to. People like you are why this thread is here.

Just stop, please. It's not funny anymore.

ChronicTom has won this one, now. Give it up.

You fucked up, you said words don't have meaning - but if they didn't, there would be no point to them.
That's what he's been arguing this whole time. Let him have that win, and then start the argument you meant to be having.

No shit! No shit words have a meaning.

The fact that you're taking my words so literal when they clearly weren't meant to be set in stone is proving me right. Not meant to be taken literally (or as surface as humanly possable). It was a jumping off point. Clearly.

So shit words have definitions. That's not what I said. Cronic Tom is proving my point "word for word" but getting the completely wrong meaning out of my words.

That is closer to the point than "This idiot thinks words don't exist"

Think about politicians. Listen to how they use words when they get in shit. It's not as simple as lying. It crafting beautiful and seemingly lucid statements that will hit a target audience in a specific way and ultimately mean nothing. Or be able to be reinterpreted in a variety of ways in order to cover any responsibility to them.

Your arguments are asinine and irrelevant.

How can I loose an argument when people are arguing that my point was something completely different than was intended?

People are arguing something that is completely different then what you meant, becuase the words you used, didn't mean what you intended to say.
