Mine does the color thing to. Usually dark yellow to bright orange then on to deep beautiful red. Its neat to watch. I love henna it always looks pretty and feels so soft afterwards. Messy though. I hate how you cant switch from chemical dyes to henna with out problems. I Cant always get henna so i settle for terrible harsh dyes and then have to wait for it to completely come out before my next henna.
I bought hair henna recently. It's called Rainbow Henna, it comes in all different colours. I got dark brown, to match my natural color. I'm a bit nervous about making it though, i'm not quite sure how to mix the stuff up, and I'm pretty sure I lost the instructions.
According to my intructions you boil some water together with one spoon of coffee powder and one spoon of tealeaves. Then u blend it with the henna powder and leave it over night. Apply on dry hair. If you want to have reddish-brown hair you can leave the paste in your hair for up to 4-6 hours. With the same paste I got the results: 3h - orange-red, 6h - reddish-brown. Good luck!
The only thing I didn't like about henna is that it took out ALL of my curl. 3 months later, the curl still hasn't come back. Its really upsetting. I used amla in the mix which was supposed to enhance the curl to counteract what henna does but it didn't work.
Argh, after much research I decided to use Sunset Glo Hennalucent in my hair because I knew out of all the Hennalucent colours, Sunset Glo is most natural. And I loved it for a little while, but now I'm bored of it and it feels like it's taking forever to fade. I really miss my old dark blonde hair and wanted to naturally enhance my old colour with chamoile or lemon juice but I'm afraid the Hennalucent is taking way too long to grow out. You know, it doesn't matter all that much to me because it is just hair but I feel much more comfortable in my natural colour. Any ideas? Any ways to get rid of the colour more quickly?
The only thing I've found negative about Henna is that if you absoloutely hate the color that comes from it, good luck in taking yourself to a professional hair dresser to get it out. Henna is apparently really hard to cover, which I found out when I used it to dye my hair red...good god the process to get it out was both expensive AND time consuming, so be sure that you do a strand test before you jump in to dying@!
I have been hennaring my hair now for around 18 years. I have very very grey hair, so I use the red henna first and leave it on my approximately 2 ores then I wash it out (with just plain water) and there I have a head of carrot coloured hair. I then take black henna (indigo) and mix it with boiling hot water, wait until I see a dark blue haze on top and then apply it to my hair... for about an hour. Then wash my hair 3-4 times and I most of the time end up with medium brown hair... but.... sometimes the black doesn't cover the orange and it still shows through... I always have this problem, I end up with different shades but still with that orange hue, how can I make my hair darker... that is what I wish to know. All suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you
I've been dying to do a henna for a while but our local store stopped selling them! Any cheap websites I can get henna from?
