Dick Dale is probably one of my favorite shredders too... he did for Fender what Les Paul did for Gibson... he had a duel with stevie ray vaughan entitled pipeline... I have it on my computer... they actually did it as a shot for a movie they were doing... it's on a music documentary about SRV now.
I was so happy to see someone post Glenn on this website. It encouraged me to register. Glenn is better than the best. Robert Plant walked off stage Glenn was so good. I encourage you to read an article on Glenn. Called "Lord of The Strings". It was just written by Clevelands magazine. Glenn jammed with Janis Joplin at the Fillmore West, and blew crowds away in 1969 with Pacific Gas and Electric. Glenn purposfully quit from being a star. He was in front of 80,000 people in 69' with PG&E. Thats when he quit drugs and became a Christian. He stopped all the bad he was doing and left the stage. Now people don't remember or know who he is. The big people such as Santana and Beck etc... know who he is. Glenn played a show with The James Gang and the crowd went wild and wanted more. The thing is Clapton was backstage waiting for his turn to the stage. Glenn's better. You will never find recordings that show his complete and unbelieveable talent. He recorded not as a frontman like he deserved. Today he is insane, has been in an asylum three times. His life went into oblivion in the 70's, but reamerged kinda with The All Saved Freak Band in the 80's. But that band, was really a cult, where Glenn was whipped and lived in the barn on the farm that the church was on. Its a very long story. They were a great musical group but when offered a large sum of money to record they turned it down. These people were crazy because they rather live on a farm. Glenn was forced to work 14 hours a day in the fields. And such and he was left to starve for days. That is why today his teeth are gone. I see Glenn play almost every week. At The bar are regulars. Mainly regulars are there because they understand Glenn and his past. Other newcombers just are insulted by his comments. So they leave. I understand that what he says is what his cult leader brainwashed him with. Glenn will preach about the end of the world and such... But he will play. And when he plays everyone shuts up and listens. Hendrix wanted Glenn to play at his birthday party, but Jimi died before that could happen. Jimi's death scared Glenn and he quit being in the limelight. Glenn feared he too would died a young death. Glenn will not have anyone take his photo. As a matter of fact if someone does they are in jeopardy of getting thrown out of the bar. Columbia records has come down to this bar. They offered Glenn a bundle of cash to record him but he turned it down. Its really sad. If Glenn recorded what he plays at the bar in the Cleveland Flats he would be a rock God. I will be glad to answer any questions about Glenn.
Hendrix is number one and Kurt Cobain is number 2. Sure, he couldn't play, but with his guitar he started something comperable with Jimi Hendrix. A new era in music.
In 69 and 1970 Peter Green from the early psych-blues Fleetwood Mac was one of the greatest rock player but too many LSD made him loose touch with earth ... the 1969 LP "Then Play On" from Fleetwood Mac is their only masterpiece... Hendrix was a great guitarist but ...i don't like the fact to say ...the Number one guitarist is this one ...the second on the billboard charts is this other one... Peter Green can be number 10 or 20 Clapton (66 to 75) can be number even number 30 or One Hendrix maybe number 1 or 8 Joe Perry (73-82) number 3 or 20 Jimmy Page (66-76) number 1 or 10 etc..... This is not the Olympic charts ...because how u judge a guitarist ? by his melodic sense or technical hability or his genius songrwitin etc...? For exemple Hendrix was probably the greatest in technical hability chapter but for the rest ? He was good for sure but was he the best ?...
They never recorded an album ! even with an offer ! sorry but he can be maybe the greatest guitarist but he was stupid enough or took too many lsd to try to record something... If i have no tape of a live show...or something to hear...all his notes are gone forever and i take this for only words ...this is not music for me until i can hear something from Glenn Schwartz ...
