No partucular order... Clapton: For flash but not the Hendrix type Hendrix: For revolution-ization Harrison: For atmosphere and the "naughty chords" Lenny Breau: do you hear what this guys does with a guitar, its what Clapton turned into...
Oh yesssssss... I knew I was forgetting some. I actually thought of Vince Gill... but I don't really like his songwriting... Though he could tear a Fender Tele a new control cavity
Andres Segoveya, John McLaughlin, Steve Hacket, Steve Howe, Mark Knopfler, Leo Kottke, Randy Rhoads, Robert Fripp and Zappa.... Take your pick as to 2nd best to Hendrix, although imo all those guys were/are better than Jimi... but Jimi just doesn't speak to me like so many other guitarists...
stevie ray vaughn definitely fills the number 2 spot for me. mick mars shouldnt even be mentioned in the top 100.
haha, i think he's referring more to paco de lucia and other flamenco/fusion players than to santana. santana wasn't spanish, and didn't play flamenco. but...he was and is amazing.
not really my #2 (i'd go 1.garcia, 2. slash 3.hendrix) but why doesn't anyone ever mention Prince on these lists. the man is way fucking good+soulful+maybe the greatest entertainer ever!
Jimmie is.was not the best guitarist. He is simply the best, well known guitarist. There is/was an old man just sitting on his porch somewhere who would own jimmie anyday. THE END
I love how most of these were at the Crossroads. I would say Hubert Sumlin. Damn, he was good at that show. I mean GOOD.
