You know the RC rite of exorcism, or Rituale Romanum, is based on Psalm 67. In the Douay–Rheims Bible (the KJV numbers the psalms differently). They never told us that in school. But if you read it, that's obvious.

Only a priest can perform exorcisms, with the permission of the local bishop. But it's interesting, I got a pamphlet in 1986 that said actually any laymen can say a "prayer" of exorcism anytime he wants. And the Rituale Romanum, and Psalm 67, are approved prayers. I don't know what the difference is. I think a laymen just can't sprinkle holy water. Or maybe it is the intent. When a priest says a ritual, he must concentrate, and use the correct Form, Matter and Intent. The psalm is the form, the water is the matter. So as I said, maybe the intent is different when a laymen does it.

Also when the baby is baptized, the priest does a brief minor exorcism. Which is odd. As I said, he can really only do it with the permission of the bishop.
