    First of all, Hi
I need help! My dreads are 3 weeks old (and I know people are going to say that they're new, give them time etc etc) but I am just about ready to cut them off
I don't want to, I want to give them a chance but they are so incredibly spikey, rough and basically like sandpaper that it's actually stopping me from sleeping. They're irritating my scalp and the moment I lay down on them, it's like a million little spikes sticking into my scalp.
I wash them every second day (my scalp gets crazy oily even after 1 day) and the only other product I use is the knotty boy cooling spray thing.
When my dreads were made, they were backcombed and croqueted, which I'm pretty sure is the reason for the horrid spikeness.
What I need is a way to fix it and quickly. I can stand being so irritated and not being able to sleep.
    Please help

Why don't you try a deep cleanse. Whenever I do a deep cleanse on my dreads they feel so soft. It may or may not work for you but it doesn't hurt to give it a try.

Pretty much use baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) mix it with water and essential oils( or save the oils for the last part) and just soak your hair in the solution. Then rinse well and mix a little bit of apple cider vinegar with water and essential oils and soak your hair in this solution as well.

There are a bunch of different recipes and a bunch of different ways to do this. Some people opt for soaking the hair in the sink or a tub( I feel this way is much less rough on baby dreads), others soak it and wrap it in a plastic bag and some just use it like they would use shampoo.

I hope this helps, I know you are getting irritated but just let time do its trick.
