Help! I need some body. Help! not just anybody. Help! you know i need someone. Heeeeeeeeeeellllllp. i'll give you $250 for a blowski
That's a funny line-and I'm going to use it in the future-I'm just not really sure what it means. But I'm going to use it. "...that's like Corky getting caught juicing at the special olympics". You just throw that line into a conversation and just keep on talking after it.
ehmm.. well my judge didn't make me pay a fine, so i guess im just gonna call em monday..maybe call my judge?
§2799.1. Civil liability for theft of goods from merchant A. Any person who unlawfully takes merchandise from a merchant's premises shall be liable to the merchant for the retail value of the merchandise taken, if not recovered in merchantable condition, plus damages of not less than fifty nor more than five hundred dollars. B. The provisions of this Section shall not be construed to prohibit or limit any other cause of action which a merchant may have against a person who unlawfully takes merchandise from the merchant's premises.
so bens reading the criminal code book and in louisiana its worse to steal someones crawfish than to steal someones alligator. remember that
Sounds to me like that's the part they are talking about. Try to contact them or the law firm about it. Inquire exactly what damages you are paying for. The merchandise was all still sellable?
Civil liability dont mean a fucking thing... Its like the RIAA. forcing fines on downloader.. ignore that civil shit.. its over a year old. Tell me this.. If you died today, whos gonna pay it?
This is separate than the criminal proceedings. You could talk to the judge-but this is separate from him, any fines you paid/time served/sentencing, and any other probation you went thru. This is Walmart coming after you for their costs associated with the criminal action-a civil action. If you were hit by a drunk driver who is then arrested and is put on probation by the courts. His car insurance pays you for your medical costs but then you decide to sue him for your pain/suffering/pay lost from work. Walmart is coming after you for their costs/suffering. If you decide to pay this you need to make sure that you get the letters releasing you from any future claims at the time that you pay.
Offer the law firm something less than $250.00 to clear it. Offer $100. They may not seek the remedy of a judgement for a small amt like $250. due to the costs associated with winning a judgement against you. Should they seek a judgement against you they will have to go before a judge and you will be invited to attend.
I don't think they can add the costs to collect the the amount to your amount due. You could call them up-let them know that you have NO money and are moving out of state on Friday-you have a bus ticket and you are leaving. Your mother is able to give you $150 in 3 days-make it in the future-that is all you can get. You have NOTHING. You are not working. "If I give you $150 on Friday can we consider this matter closed". If they agree (and the probably will-but wait)-get a name, let them know what time you will be in-see if that person will be there then or who you should talk to-and MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVE A PAPER ABSOLVING YOU OF ALL FUTURE CLAIMS FOR THE AMOUNT OF 150. When you show up tell them you have the money and you want to see the paper-don't give them the money without reading the paper and make sure that everything is correct. When you are on the phone they will probably tell you that they agree but when you show up the won't have the paper. They will take your money and not absolve you in the future. Read everything carefully-see if someone can go with you and have them read it too (just to be careful). Give them a check that you can trace and get a receipt. On the check in the memo section write "Final Payment for action at Walmart on (date)". They may be very cool with you or they could be weasels. They may try to get the $150 from you and not close the matter-that is why the paper is important. You may want to write down your 'talking points' before you call. That way you don't miss anything when you are talking to them and you are careful with what you say. $100 is probably too little-$150 is safe-they may ask for $200-tell them you will try.
just wow.. youre making someone afraid of walmart .. lol.. Fuck walmart fuck that civil suit.. tell them to call judge judy.. and get over it.. I cant believe how robotic all you people are.. its hilarious..
I'm not trying to make her afraid-I'm letting her know ways to handle it. I said in my first email she could get away without paying it. Bet they will continue to try to collect with letters and phone calls.
then youre an idiot... #1 you already committed one crime,, Wtf is the big deal getting a slap on your credit ? are you going to buy a car, even if you are,, Car company dont give a fuck about it, Pay for the car with a down payment and make payments. Fuck walmart.. if you feel like its your duty to pay it then do it.. But seriously.. I think your just putting on a act like you give a fuck when you dont @Micha. I just get a kick out the Anti establishment hippie rants I hear all the time. and heres we are letting walmart fuck you twice.. you already completed a sentence arranged by the court (did walmart not recover their property you stole? as for harassing phone calls : who has land lines? how do they harass a boost phone from 7-11? letter write RTS on it and dump it in the mail box.. iggy:
I'm not disagreeing with you-I probably wouldn't pay it either-but I don't shoplift-so I wouldn't be anyway. You live yout life one way-and choose to pick your battles. Let her pick hers. I'm glad you explained more about not paying. Just more information for her. But leave the decision up to her.
Call them up let them know you are going into rehab in 10 days. You'll probably be in there for months. Your mom can come up $100? $150 in 3 days. Have them mail you a new letter-compare the wording on your letter to the new letter-just for less money. Send them a check which you can trace. On the memo section reference the store, date, and shoplifting-stating "paid in full". Again if you don't want to pay....But it will be on your credit report (Orison just had a heart attack).
