I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Having dealt with addiction issues in all my life with myself and loved ones and had much therapy. I can tell you what worked for me and what doesn't. I can tell you my own alcohol problem was much easier for me to get over than it was for me to get over my loved ones addictions.

i have found that I have to mind my own business if i want to remain sane. I can't go digging thru their stuff looking for evidence or looking at their cell phone to see who is calling. does it make them stop? Not really. What it does do is keep me from going over the edge.

It puts distance between me and my loved ones who have addiction problems. I hate being around them when they binge on whatever their drug of choice is and believe me my family has tried everything. It is so painful to try and make them stop doing their shit.

My advise to you is be gentle with yourself it is not your fault and do everything you can to take care of yourself.

They are a lot more likely to get a grip if we do not try to interferer with their process it shames them when we ridicule them and i think it really does make it worse for them. They do what they do because they are in pain and we do what we do because we are in pain. They become our drug if we are not careful. sometimes it will put distance between you and your loved one if you decide to take my advice. There are many addiction support groups and I am sure they will all tell you pretty much what I have told you here.

When you start feeling crazy that is probably a real good indicator that you need to back away a little and give yourself some space so you can take care of you. Take care of you....
