a way that is gaurenteed to lower gas prices is to let out some of the 4 trillion gallons of gas that we have stored underground incase of nuclear crisis
Believe it or not that is not necessary. This is not a supply and demand problem. We currently have a surplus of oil. The high gas prices are caused by shameful price gouging by the oil industry and other deceptive practices to control the price of oil and gas. That is why I am in favor of an ongoing boycott of Exxon/ Mobil and Hess gas stations!
Why don't you all just switch to vegetable oil cars? Way cheaper, easy to install, and VERY good for the enviorment. It's also biodegradable so it can be recycled by the enviorment. And say one day you accidentally run out of veg. oil in an emergency. Well you can just switch back to gasoline for the time, it's a 2-fueled system.
I can remember a time when the minimum wage was $3.75 and the cost of gas was a whoppi9ng $0.32. Try facing a 10000% increase in gas ($0.32 > $3.50), but less than a 100% increase ($3.75 > $5.50) in wages. In thirty plus years I've never seen gas go down in price, atleast since the outlawing of the gas wars prior to 1975. The Saudies have more power here in America than Americans do, and own about 7% of all American assets. This is more than Japan, Great Britin, and Germany, each hovering at about 5% each. Far fewer refineries and oil production platforms were irrepairably damaged as a result of Katrina and Rita than Washington and big oil claimed. (I have family working in the Louisiana petrochemical industry a managers a line bosses). The sole purpose of this line of corprit B. S. is to increase the gap between those who have and those who don"t. The time has come when we MUST find a new either a new manner of living or a replacement for our current technology as reguards to transportation which does not require dependance upon petrochemicals. I do hope that everyone does understand that all of those plastic goodies floating around out there (including your coke, key board, and mouse) are all made with some amount of oil in them.
Oh yea thats right i heard about that. Like when hurrican katrina hit the gas companies were saying it was going to cost a lot because they lost oil wells in texas and stuff, but that quarter they made record earnings which was 50 billion dollars. now that is defenetely price gouging.
See, the problem here IS that it is a corrupt system. We are going to have to be prepared to give up a lot of things that we enjoy. The problem is not the price...the problem is systematic and internal. Sure, there's enough oil for the next few years or so, but who cares? Oil isn't good for the environment anyway. Do you know how many free radicals are harming your body from riding in a car or ingesting chemicals from power plants... (could this be why so many people die from cancer) But the real reason no one wants to do anything is not because they are enjoying the profits (which, believe me, they are enjoying it) but because our way of life is so comfortably dependant on oil. But, hey, lets face it, as nation we watch too much tv, we eat too much food, and we spend way too much time doing absolutely nothing...maybe if people were to fend for themselves a little more, and things were not so easily accessible, we would have the opportunitity as people to lean on eachother. We should strive to be amigos a little more. People get mad because they have to wait in line, or because they have to pay a lot for gas... but watching your dinner grow out of the ground takes a lot more patience and its sure as hell not as convient. So while everyone wants to find a grand solution to this gas price problem, i am trying to learn to grow my own food, and i am trying to gain knowledge that will be more important once the shit is gone...because it will be gone SOON. And i hope that people can appreciate the end of a bad thing that gave a good basis for a more natural solution to our everyday problems. Good Ridence Gas!
