Hello! how do you get an avatar?

This site used to have many to choose from, but don't anymore. I am not sure how, with this new laptop, to find a photo and use it as an avatar.
help!

 

You will need a picture filed in your computer. Then in your HF account settings you will find an option to upload an avatar picture and you just follow the menu.

I have just checked. Click on your username on the top line. (next to inbox) Then click 'avatar' in the left hand column and the rest will be self explanatory.

 

assuming you don't have one to use yet?.......go to googlr image search....change the search setting to ''icon''...then enter a search term and choose one....whatever , lets say a moon.......you right click,or right tap on the picture and ''save as''.....enter a name to save it under and click save....make sure you note where you re saving it to.....it will be in pictures or documents or uploads.......then you have your avatar on your new laptop

next do what wilsjane said....

this will bring up your files to choose from the computer...choose your avatar and go nuts...enjoy....welcome to hipforums

 

This is not always the case....

 

I think that it is easier since the recent site upgrade. You can just select 'chose a picture' and it opens your computer files. It may be different if you are not using a Windows OS.
I build a lot of computers for specialist use, but I leave the software to our daughter, so I am no expert on different operating and file systems.

 

You have to be a member of the Elite HF agenda. 5000 post minimum.
