ok i have to go through this stuff again. the powder is created when it strikes an object. the burning of the du doesn't magically transform its radioactive qualities. i'm sure some chemistry books will tell you this.
radioactive materials are in the environment. do you think it wise to spread more nuclear material?
du is widely acknowledged as nuclear waste ("low level").

my argument is not coherent?? please have a look below - the sodium fluoride is a subject we aren't even debating.... your problem is that you have in inadvertantly strayed into the relatively meagre minefield of my knowledge.

1 (its actually spelt fluoride not flouride , there is no flour in fluoride - the true scientific spelling). even google asks if you meant fluoride? websters on line asks if you meant fluoride.

fluoride [IMG] 1826, "binary compound of fluorine with another element," from the same source as fluorine (q.v.). Fluoridation, in reference to adding traces of fluorine to drinking water as a public health policy, dates from 1949. fluorine [IMG] 1813, non-metallic element, coined by Eng. chemist Sir Humphry Davy (1778-1829) from fluorspar ("calcium fluoride," modern fluorite), the name of the mineral where it was first found, from L. fluor, originally meaning "a flowing, flow" (see fluent). The mineral name was given by Georg Agricola in 1546, translating Ger. name flusse, so called because it melts easily.
despite "flouride" being off topic.... go and have a look into something called material safety data sheets here's the results from a few....

maybe you can put some of this stuff into your mouth to prove my stupidity of my small research.

Effects of overexposure, Acute and chronic: Harmful if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through skin. Causes severe irritation to tissues of the mucous membranes, upper respiratory tract, eyes and skin. Chronic: This material is a carcinogen. Target organs: Kidneys, bones, nerves, G.I. System, teeth. Conditions aggravated: Persons with pre-existing eye, skin or respiratory conditions may be more susceptible. May be fatal if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed thru the skin Avoid all contact. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after use. Keep container closed.

FIRST AID: CALL A PHYSICIAN. SKIN: In case of contact, immediately flush skin with water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Thoroughly clean clothing and shoes before reuse.

EYES: Wash eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting lids occasionally. Seek Medical Aid. INHALATION: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen

INGESTION: If swallowed, induce vomiting immediately after giving two glasses of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconcious personMay be fatal if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed thru the skin Avoid all contact. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after use. Keep container closed. Acute: Inhalation of dust or mist may cause severe mucous membrane irritation and burns. Effects may not be immediately apparent, especially with diluted solutions. First aid procedures should be followed even in cases of suspected contact.

Chronic: Causes severe skin irritation and burns. Ingestion or inhalation may be harmful and possibly fatal depending on severity and length of over-exposure. Chronic over-exposure may cause Fluorosis. Product may be absorbed through the skin and produce signs of Fluorosis such as weight loss, brittleness of bones, anemia, weakness and stiffness of joints. Internal bleeding may develop.

Aggravated Medical Condition: Any skin, respiratory or mucous membrane conditions.

    ACUTE EFFECTS
HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED, INHALED, OR ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN.
    CAUSES SEVERE IRRITATION.
HIGH CONCENTRATIONS ARE EXTREMELY DESTRUCTIVE TO TISSUES OF THE MUCOUS

Pressed rat, I'm working on an article on DU: what's your pic source? I'm looking for as many as I can find for research before I start talking to the women and men that have come back from the Gulf /Iraq/Afghanistan and have problems.
    thanks.

But if the plating works as intended, it will reduce civilian casualties during combat, because the shells detonate inside the targeted vehicle, rather than outside. A trade-off, some might say.

(NOTE: I'm playing "devil's advocate" here so please don't over-harsh me. After all, the only good Republican is a dead Republican- and even then he's only good once there's a good cover of grass above, and five hippies smoking a joint and singing/playing Masters Of War over the lying traitor's fucking grave.)

Yes I know they aren't using them in the Iraq war but what I said is they are giving them to soldiers in training over here in America.

No, I'll spell this out very slowly for you. DU just corodes into the soil unless it becomes powder, it's radioactive content, (roughly 30% of the DU of the very commonly occuring naturally U-238 in soil) Because artillery shells are not widely used in Iraq at all anymore, which you haven't even began to admit...

And when they are used, the low level radioactive material just disolves into the soil after they are fired.

The problem with using them as counterweights, is when they aircraft crashes, it may burn the counterweights, and the high heat of the burning jet fuel may turn DU into airborne particles. which could spread radioactive matireal in an airborne form if it crashed in an urban area.

This can only happen once the high heat of jet fuel is added. Not when they are fired out of a tank at the comparitivly low temperature of gas propelled or more often gunpowder propulsion.

I've admited it is several times, you just aren't able to understand the words that I'm typing.

It's an analogy, to which you have thorougly proved my point. Mildly poisonous, and radioactive materials are common and nessecary for our current society. The materials should be monitered for saftey, proper use and over exposure, but knee jerk reactionism and posting whatever you can find on Rense aren't logical reactions.

You have proven to have taken my comments out of context, which I knew you would, and proven you have no understanding of physiology or chemistry.

The only counter argument you have offered is pointing out a spelling error, and then thoroughly proven that you are a paranoid reactionist.

If you're unwilling to answer questions posted to your contentions...

You're not worth debating, I promise to say nothing more about DU in this thread, and you people can have your disigured baby posting orgy of conspiracy.

du corrodes? define corrodes i'm unfamiliar with this term in this context. i'm aware of its use in such oxidation/ reduction - the electro chemical cell, are we talking galvanic? acid of the rain etc.what garbage is this???? what science book are you reading???

the du if in solution, will either remain so or precipitate into another solid, this is basic chemistry - an expert though i'm not. no doubt it will form some sort of ionic bond but though the number of protons defines its reactive nature with other elements its radioactive nature will remain to be so.

so what about putting some sodium fluoride in you mouth you can get your hands on some of that - they use it in toothpaste right, go and buy some and swallow a few tablespoons of the stuff (pure sodium fluoride that is) - if you dare, i'm just paranoid right. oh by the way old boy did you go looking in the material safety data sheets as i suggested? you'll find a whole wealth of information in there but i guess you just decide about the world from your gut feeling, what do science books know. i notice that you aren't willing to rage against the facts of msds how come so? oh by the way in no way do i endorse that you consume or use sodium fluoride in any way, this is my disclaimer in case your mum tries to sue me if you actually eat the stuff.

"but knee jerk reactionism and posting whatever you can find on Rense aren't logical reactions" rense? as for material safety data sheets any fool can search through them that isn't a conspiracy go and read em.

the conclusion of this exercise with you is that you yourself call it "mildly poisonous" and see it fit for it to be spread over iraq. though it be poisonous you say let them eat it and live with it. you see no problem with spreading nuclear waste as this magical corroding process will do its wonderful work. or perhaps the waste gets spread far and wide it stopped becoming dangerous. you haven't read any of the msds relating to NaF yet you say its safe?

not worth debating the facts? well i'm used to this when the facts themselves fly in the face of opinion. read some facts as i've asked you to do so and get back to me

du is not just used in artillery shells its has many uses.
