How does this have revelance when inside, we are not so sure of ourselves? If we are to understand the significance, why turn back? The night is gone, so to speak. We're entering a new day, a new awareness. A chapter has passed, our minds are older now, aged and experienced (We hope). Let's drop myth and embrace awareness, understand the importance of what has unfolded beyond the Church. It's time to peer into the Galileo's telescope, wonder with the quantum world and gaze at the heavens with the mystics in our hearts.
The truth always has revelance, and that is why the bible tells us to study the Scriptures. The Bible is old but it prophecies are for the day we live in. The new day will be filled with evil, and only those grounded in the love and power of Christ will escape the things that are coming upon this earth. Those who embrace you awareness, and ignore the truth of the Scriptures are the one's that are following the myth. The Jews are back in Israel, they now control Jerusalem, and Jerusalems East Gate remains sealed. This is the truth, and this is not a myth. And with the mystics in your heart you will still be unable to change the evil which is to come. Only a life centered on Jesus Christ will give you safe passage in the times to come.
I've read most of this thread and I just don't understand something. If god is omnipotent and can have everything he wants because he is the all, then why does god have to have followers? Is he that insecure? Does he have to have someone around to stroke his ego? If you don't do this then he casts you away to a horrible place where you can think about what bad things you've done to him. Sure he promises you a place in the "magic kingdom" if you gravel at his feet but once you stand up against him, even if it's to make a change in life you are going to hell. He really sounds like a rich kid that uses his resources to make friends, if they don't want to be his friends then they can go outside in the stormy weather. Just my two cents.
Yet, I just don't see what you're saying as being backed up. Yes, the Jews are back in Israel, but why rely on an ancient text from a previous era, a previous state of consciousness, when new holistic and developed awareness has arisen after? We've gone from ego to ethno to world. Why depend soley on a text written in mythical ethnocentrism when there's a world of knowledge to learn, and a structure to that wonderful development we call evolution: of mind, body, spirit. So, I ask you, is it possible that Jesus, the divine, in your experience, is bigger than your experience? That Jesus is your personal, cultural experience of the divine, very true, very authentic, but is it possible the picture may be bigger than that, and unique according to your consciousness of it? Must the worldview be only yours, or can you see the intersubjective nature of it?
He doesn't need to have followers, we think that he does. the fact is , god is free to do what he wants. You see God isn't like we are, he does not have any ego, because if he did, he would have striked you down with a bolt of lighting for saying that just now. You misunderstand, God does not cast you out, the fact is you fall. In fact, he cares about you, therefore he says "hold on to me you little one, or else you are going to fall" He is rich.
Well here's the thing. I think we have a dualistic God here. On one hand, we have this experience of an omnipotent, unconditional presence, beyond description. On the other hand we have a description of a God with followers, with a people, with anger, with other things that make him sound rather like a jelous, Zeus like god, a mythical God, rather than something else. Is may be possible that we have that true divine experience, but at the same time, don't forget who is experiencing it! Individuals from cultures, individuals with certain limits and perceptions that mold, create the experience according to how they view themselves, the world, etc. So in other words, the divine may be experienced, but we mold that perception with our own stages of understanding. Egocentric - Someone has a personal experience of God, but feels unique, special, perhaps even prophetic. Narcissistic. Ethnocentric - OUR God of OUR people, etc. God saves us, but not you unless you are with us. Worldcentric - God saves all people, God is available for all, and there are many paths to God. The way God is interpreted is not according to how God is or is not, but how we are or are not.
Yea, we are like little kids almost, God is the mother. We argue "Mommy is this , mommy is that" But we don't understand how amusing we are to God when we argue like that.
True true! Also, even at this point, we may even acknowledge some of the mystics, viewed cross-culturally, that speak of God as not even being masculine or feminine, but beyond that. A being, a suchness, a thusness, all present, all-Spirit, etc. Also, the notion that perhaps, perhaps, all is Spirit, and Spirit is. The notion that God and the experiencer are one. This too is a notion that the mystics have hinted at. This, to me, is fascinating, and worth dabbling into.
Yep , and to add to that, we come from God, therefore we are spirit also, its just this physical body is material , but I know what alot of hindu swamis/ buddhist monks have said so far, the body is only like a car for us to drive around in this world, when it breaks down, we go buy another car. Or we could leave all this wandering all together and go back to Him.
We run to our ignorance and to our blindness, we run from the fact that we are spirit. Once we stop doing that, we have reached Him.
Jedi excuse me? Hell is where god is'nt? THAT means god is not omnipotent. If there is somewher god cannot be. God is not god. Occam
Jedi , you got it.. but reversed. WE are the adults, and we created a stupid adolescent figure called 'the god of the monotheism' [christianity, islam and judaeism] But we dont seem to understand how amusing we are to ourselves when we argue over 'him' As there is no god as described by religion, it cant be amused . Occam WILL argue for the existance of 'a' god. But never for the the existance of the god defined by religion. THAT god, is a childish, arrogant piece of shit. Occam
Heven and hell are both ways of saying the two extremes in this life. You can find heaven (on this earth) by living by what Jesus and many other religius figures taught, loveing your neighbor, helping those in need ETC You can also in this life find hell, by killing inocents, stealing out of necesity and through sex. (cheating, rape ETC I dont think pre-maritual is wrong.) The thing is the face of religion today could not be farther from the true teachings of those worshiped! Churches, denouce other religions and there followers to hell, refuse gays, do not let pastors marrie, or even let women preach! This is the exact opposite of what christianity and most other religions truly teach, accepting one another and living in a better way to find Heaven on this earth.
Depends on what you term religion Mr. Occam , Ultimately religion's definition for me is the path to the realization of the truth. Truth of one's nature , one's existence, which for me is only possible when I realize God in my life. Ofcourse, your definition of religion might be different, therefore making you right in your own way.
God wants to have a relationship with people who will freely love Him as He will love them. God does not want an army of robots. Loveing someone does not require you gravel at their feet. If you stand up against Him, you only expose yourself as evil, for God represents everything that is good, and right. God is always trying to lift man up not put him down. Those who oppose Him are those who join in partnership with the Devil. The Bible tells us, most people would rather do what is evil than what is good. Without Christ any change made in your life will not earn you a place in God's Kingdom. Salvation is a gift, that was given to us by Christ death on the cross. You cannot work your way to heaven. And even Christ ask the question. How will they neglect so great a salvation?
OK Occam gives up... believe any garbage you want,, my desire to help my fellow beings is dead. No loss to you. But one titanic loss to occam Bye Occam
