I would just like to point out that nothing anyone has written for the last few pages has been about the actual topic of the thread.

For an issue that seems to be uniting people across the isle on most other platforms, everyone here seems very determined to hate each other and just keep arguing all the same old shit that keeps us divided and distracted instead of pouring all that energy into the real issues. It is not left versus right, it's the elite versus the rest of us.

It is bringing about class consciousness across the entire political spectrum. Far left, far right and every stage in between, there is a massive shift in the way people are thinking. It's not about being happy that someone died, although that's how the media on both sides are trying to spin it. It's about how differently we are treated depending on how much money we have. It's about recognizing that the people with power and money are screwing all of us over, on every level, from the food we eat, to housing cost, to health care.

Stop paying attention to any of the mainstream media, talk to real people, watch their posts, read the comments, not just in places that are echo chambers or places you go to deliberately argue with those you have already decided are your enemy. Be objective and really look at the world around you from a different perspective. It is changing, and not because of any elected official, it's changing because the people are changing. We are all sick of everything being the way it is and there is no savior on either side that's going to fix it, the people will. Our voices will be heard. Hopefully, through more peaceful means but this event sent a definitive message to those in places of power, be it corporate or political, that no one is untouchable.

 

And this would preclude me from being a journalist how exactly?

Maybe I could just be allowed to write the headlines for the “real journalists’” articles. How about these?

I can agree with much of what you said but I think you’re putting too much hope into this. This guy was just one rando. He’s not a movement or a turning of the tide. Now, if others follow suit and start targeting other high profile parasites, then it may start something; but what of it? What can come of it? Do you think they’ll change? Do you think they won’t make the government crack down hard on any and all freedoms? Corporations own ALL governments. Democracy is a facade. Even if “the people” could generally agree on what they want, they wouldn’t be able to effect it via government. Hell, government would actively prevent it.
