Maybe now those greedy CEOs will reconsider their actions that hurt others. Up until now they, like most Elite Billionaires like Trump consider themselves immune and above the law.

Nah, never happen. They don't know how to be human with a conscience.

In a country that allows state sanctioned executions, it's hard to cry over the murder of one man who hurt so many. It's called vigilante justice.

And in a world where more than thousand men die every day for the vain glory of one man, it's time for a change. Even if it takes a rebellion like in Syria.

But to let thousands of innocent die horribly without insurance that they paid for, in order to enrich a few who are already obscenely rich is insane.

Seems bizarre that a CEO who has a personal security detail provided by his employer to walk down the sidewalk at 6:30 am without ANY of his security. He might not have been the best person for the job.

Maybe all security does is deal with pushy news reporters. I don't think anyone thought this actually happening.

There is definitely something fishy about this one. It's like it might have been his death wish.

Anyway, there ya have it, folks. He's dead, they suck, they will suck worse in the future and nothing changes. There's also the thought that this is just some distraction....what are they getting away with without us seeing, today ?

Or the person they are saying did it, is just a scapegoat so the police can say they caught him.

    IMG_20241209_173855.jpg The killer. Luigi Mangione.

He was arrested at a McDonald's with a 3D printed gun.

He was valedictorian of his private school, apparently a wiz.

Bit of a digression but one that is prompted by the topic at hand.

Does anyone have data on the size of the medical insurance industry versus the size of the medical care industry?

I’m inclined to speculate that the size of the insurance industry is a significant and largely wasteful component of total medical costs. I understand the concept of pooled risk very well. So I know how individuals are supposed to benefit from insurance protection. Given the costs of the policies and the frequent denials of coverage/treatments, we may as well just have a socialized system with all of its attendant inefficiencies and wait times and rationing at this point.

The whole system of health care is so broken. If we had no insurance industry, many hospitals would have to go out of business since they all rely on the circulation of insurance money. Many smaller hospitals here have just picked up and packed it in. There are some semi-rural / small town areas here now where you are an hour from an ER or outpost....if you're having a heart attack, forget it...you're dead.

You mean he said to himself "i feel like committing suicide today, so I think I'll just walk down the street without my security guard in the expectation somebody will shoot me?" Or maybe: "I need a little adventure in my life, so I think I'll try it without the guards. What a rush!"?

Well, there certainly is a lot of circumstantial evidence he's the guy? What's the evidence for your conspiracy theory?

Thinking more on this, I’m reminded of the Amish attitude toward insurance: it’s just another form of gambling. I see their point. Furthermore, as we all should know, “The house always wins.”

True...it's gambling. Who has a million bucks to spend on heart surgery or cancer? My sister had her AAA fixed - the bill came up to $440,000..

Here's the great thing about opinions, I don't need evidence for it, lol. I just have this gut feeling that the guy that actually did it...the guy that meticulously planned not only the crime but also a pretty flawless get away...would probably be smart enough not to keep the weapon and a fake ID. Much less, be stupid enough to offer the specific fake ID that he had used to check in at the hostel to the police, especially when he apparently had others he could have used. You are free to think whatever you like but do you really believe that 12 jurors, beyond a reasonable doubt, will be able to come to the verdict of guilty based on what has been presented without suspending their own common sense?

But in the interest of offering my own "circumstantial evidence", have you seen that guy's eyebrows? Lol look at his mugshot, then look at the first, masked photo of the gunman, not the unmasked photo that they released later, compare them.

Innocent until proven guilty, at least that's how it's supposed to be, right? What proof do you have that the "evidence" the police are presenting, hasn't been planted to pin this whole thing on an innocent man, in hopes of quelling the rebellion that the murder seems to have started?
