Is this normal? Is my body just adjusting to the dietary changes? I don't think I'm dehydrated - I drink plenty if water and go pee at least once an hour. I never used to get headaches as bad as the ones I'm getting now. Today, it started as soon as I woke up. I took some pain killers and it was gone for most of the day, then came back in full force tonight around supper time. Sorry for the short post - I wanted to give some more detail as to why I've decided to go vegetarian, but my head is pounding and looking at the screen isn't helping. It would be nice to know what is causing my headaches though.
Giving up caffeine can do it, if your having it in something occasionally, the odd coffee, or a soda drink..try a well woman boost, most pharmaceutical places sell them..hope its sorted soon xxx
I haven't had meat since Christmas Eve. I was drinking Mexican coffee twice a day while in Mexico, and haven't had any coffee since I've been home (I've been home for three days). I also haven't had any alcohol since Mexico, so i suppose it could be withdrawal from either of those things. I looked for an iron supplement at the pharmacy yesterday and couldn't fine one. I might need to go the multi vitamin route for my iron. I woke up and again today, my head was pounding. I took two pain killers, but I don't want to do that every day!!! I'm frustrated.
When I don't eat as much as I normally do I usually get a headache. Are you getting enough electrolytes?
It really may be a de-tox. It may be many things and you'll have to find out what it is by eliminating the possible culprits one at a time. Are you trying to stay organic with the veggies as much as possible? If you've greatly increased fresh produce in your diet... you may be consuming more chems than your body is used to from pesticides and such. Or... the benefits of fresh produce have caused your liver and kidney to de-tox... which is a really good thing and the headaches shouldn't last long at all. If you stopped caffeine... headaches. If you changed the type of red wine you drink.... headaches. If you snore at night... you aren't getting the rest you need... apnea... headaches. I'd be vigilant about hydrating like you are until you get a handle on what is going on. So many different things could be causing this.
I think we have a winner, darlin'. Caffeine withdrawals can give ya wicked headaches. Maybe switch to green tea and wean yourself? Green tea has caffeine but the tea is good for you.
If you can find it, ferrous gluconate is the best kind of iron supplement to get. It is the easiest version for your body to digest. I think I found mine at a shoppers.
Cool thank you! I'll go for a walk later today and have a gander. I'll try London drugs first because they are closer, and if I can't find it there, I'll walk up to shoppers. Fingers crossed LD has it man, because it's cold, wet and gross here right now.
I've been drinking black tea since I've been home though. I always drink two cups of black tea with milk and sugar every morning. So I'm not completely caffeine free........
