I remember reading somewhere recently the stats for how many people get a headache or more every month.... how many get headaches or migraines yearly, etc. And there was apparently a percentage of people who have never had a headache. My brother a while back told me he never had one and I thought he was full of shit but maybe not.... Anyways, I'm not remembering the exact stats right now but it's making me wonder how common headaches are... So... Are you male or female? How often a week do you get a headache? A migraine? How often a month do you get a headache? A migraine? How often a year do you get a headache? A migraine? And do you know what they are caused by? *Addition-Have you ever, or do you ever get, really bad headaches-migraine or not, that make you get physically sick (throw up)?
Yes, I have a headache right now to have thought of this. For me... Female. sometimes one headache a week...sometimes none... sometimes are many as every day. A month-I'd say on average at least 5 headaches but not more than ten usually. Sometimes no migraines. Sometimes 1-3 a month. And I have no idea how many a year.... just times the month answers by 12 I guess. (Causes allergies, sinuses, stress, not eating enough or certain foods, hormonal issues, eye strain... really think my causes vary a lot.)
Female I get headaches every day but I've only had one or two migraines in my life I get mild headaches because I have TMJ. Its really more of an ache in my jaw muscles than a headache and I'm so used to it I barely notice But also I've had more severe headaches the past four months, ever since I started taking the depo provera shot. I don't plan to get any more shots because I'm 99% that is the cause of my headaches I also get pretty severe sinus headaches in the fall
Male. Cured my headaches though. Used to get headaches almost everyday, mainly from sunlight, migraines multiple times a month. About 7 months ago I wanted to see if drinking a lot of water would help. So everday at noon I would drink 2 glasses of water, then 1 glass of water at the top of every hour, until 10pm. Get about 1 headache a week if that. Used to get them for about 10 years Im sure its not that easy for most and I dont think I was dehyrdated before I just wasnt drinking as much water and not paying attention to when I was "low" on fuel. Maybe its placebo for me
Yes, dehydration can DEF do it! Come to think of it... I drank a lot of water earlier today but not in second part of day. Will drink more now. :2thumbsup: Meli... I wonder if there is something like that with me that I don't know about. Sometimes I get a lot of headaches. They come and go though so I don't know...
Ever? How many have you had? As I said my brother NEVER had one. My mom and I both get them pretty often though. I think in GENERAL girls get them more.
I'm a male I used to get migraines when i was younger, sometimes multiple times a week. sometimes they would last 2 or 3 days, it sucked. my vision would go all screwy and i'd have trouble reading words if i was looking at a book. its like i could see them but it was hard to 'understand' what i was looking at and letters would dissappear into the page and shit. i came to recognize this as an aura, and knew i would have a headache soon if that happened. i don't have heacaches much any more, id say once a month or less but i dont count cuz its not that big a deal so im not sure .. they're not migraines. sometimes i get a headache from allergies or sinus problems. i only have regular headaches now, i dont think ive had a proper migraine of that intensity in years.
I have another question for everyone.... I'll add this to the top, OP, too. Have you ever, or do you ever get, really bad headaches-migraine or not, that make you get physically sick (throw up)? For me, I don't know if the ones that make me puke are migraines or just really, really bad tension headaches but once I have a bad one for over an hour or two (the really bad ones), I get physically ill.
None that I can think of over the past 10 years (excluding the flu) which I've had at least 3 or 4 times over that period. And even then it was more dizziness than an actual headache. Hotwater
you do realize this is just the same exact question asked three slightly different ways... i almost never get headaches. occasionally i'll get a minor stress headache, but they are rare, and so mild that i feel like they shouldn't even really count. otherwise, i used to sometimes get bad hangover headaches when i used to drink heavily. smoking weed to deal with the hangover usually helped the upset stomach and made the headache even worse. i haven't drank enough to bring about that kind of a hangover in years anyway though, so basically real headaches just don't really happen anymore. never had a migraine. never threw up from a headache.
Female Very very frequently. I'd say about 4 a week. They can get pretty damn severe, but I don't think I could consider them migraines more than screaming headaches. They are usually caused by stress and sometimes headlights or the position of the sun when I'm driving. Dehydration and lack of caffeine are also pretty big factors. No, I've never had a headache bad enough to make me throw up. Which is why I don't consider anything I've ever had as a migraine.
Am I being detained? :smoking: Male 24/7 24/7 24/7 Yeah, my physical impairments. Nope. Can't say I have.
very first migraine was this way, im not sure if it was just because it was so painful or not .. it was very painful and lasted days. totally incapacitating! ive only had 2 possible 3 that were that bad tho, although the others were no fun either.
I have had optical migraines since I was a young child. The first time I was hospitalized for one was when I was 6. In my youth I probably had one or two a month. In my teens closer to one a week. They tended to last for 3 days with extreme light sensitivity and vomiting for the first day. Dehydration caused me to have to have medical treatment more often than not. Once I had children the reduced in frequency to usually once a month. I still feel they were in part triggered by hormones. After I reached menopause, I have had very few. Now probably closer to once every few months. I can only control the pain and symptoms when I do get them. I make sure I stay hydrated and use Fiorinal c1/4 which is the only medication that has ever helped. My father and sister also have suffered from migraines. My daughter does also but hers tend to be stress triggered and last for a day usually. Though not noted as hereditary they do tend to run in families, whatever that means when they use the catch phrase.
Heat, do you or have you ever smoked weed to help your migraines? My boyfriend has regular, debilitating migraines and weed is the only thing that has ever helped them. As long as he smokes he doesn't get them but if he doesn't smoke for a few days they come right back.
I have not smoked weed since I was about 19. When I did back then it did not seem to make it any better or to be honest any worse. It also did not help with nausea which is unfortunate as many people do find weed helps with that. If it had of helped I probably would have continued to smoke on occasion.
