having your parents read your posts here

my mom doesnt know how to use a computer. ha. most of this shit she already knows about me anyways so its all good.

 

I had another kids parents read an online journal I had. It was basicly a drug journal. I hate parents that are like that. They were conservative christians too.

 

I would die if my parents read my posts here. On the forums, I can say things I might not even say to my friends in real life.

 

So they read YOUR journal or their kid's? If you're complaining about people reading stuff you post online then you might want to think about not posting it. If they were reading something their kid posted then maybe their kid should develop a little street smarts and computer skills so they won't know what he's doing so much.

 

hahaha- my mother would be so pissed off at me making threads like, "

HAHAHA MY MOTHER IS HIGH AGAIN" and then she'd be super embarrased with all the descriptions of her that i made about her being high lol...

ooooh man i hope they never find out.

 

My parents think that I'm e-mailing people, they have no clue that I post on this forum. They would kill me if they knew.

 

i never let anyone know i post here...i think its better that way...like its my place to relax and have fun

 

lol this thread is so thoughtful.

first off, the pictures in my gallery- my firends would think im a total whore if they saw that.

second, i would never talk aboutm my sex life with them.. they shouldnt know right now other wise ill have to hang out with the real school bitches and they are realyl annoying... or well i could jsut be a loner.

If people are worried about their parents reading what they post here then they need to develop some computer skills. I'm a tech support analyst for a major university so I'm going to provide you with some tips:

1) Don't use internet explorer. IE is fucked up in general and I don't advise anyone to use it for many reasons. In this case I'd advise people not to use it because it is easier to cover your tracks if you use another browser. Try mozilla http://www.mozilla.org for starters. And ALWAYS clear out the browser's cache and history. Also NEVER let mozilla or any other browser store your login and password. If you do this then your parents are unlikely to ever even know that you post here, let alone what your nickname is.

2) If your computer is infected with some kind of net-nanny bullshit, there are ways of disabling it. Take a look at http://www.peacefire.org for more information on how to do this.

3) Install an OS like linux. if you set up linux on an empty partition and make it difficult to find, your parents will have no way of knowing what you're doing period. You'll have to get pretty good with computers before you try something like this, but it is something good to work towards.

4) Learn to be paranoid. Assume that your parents are trying to spy on you and don't leave any evidence for them to find. My parents were control freaks and I was glad to be rid of them when I left home at 18. If your parents are anything like mine were then you'll be glad when you get out too.

5) If you're actually doing things that you shouldn't be because they are truly dangerous and/or harmful, as opposed to things that are ok but which your parents being insane control freaks are not going to like, then just stop ok? The world doesn't make any allowances for losers and idiots, and yes the rules of life DO apply to you.

All the more reason to grow up and move out. They're not going to treat you as an adult until they have no other choice. As long as you're living with them and dependent upon them they have the power to treat you any way they want. And if you think you "can't" move out because your parents won't let you or won't like it, then that is clear proof that you NEED to move out.
