5 years ago I made a futon type mattress that I sleep on directly on the floor. I like it because it doesn't give me back aches like 'regular' beds do. I think it's also nice because you aren't purchasing something you don't really need, i.e a bed frame. Most people don't NEED a bed frame...

I suppose people that dont have real houses dont need bed frame.. But I have 4 bedroom house, plus other rooms used for sleep. It would look ghetto and ridiculous to have the beds on the floor..

If you care about the aesthetic value than you may WANT a bed frame :)

Keeps things from crawling under it and dying.

the only downside to this is when you have roaches, ants, or spiders who can easily access your open mouth, ears, and maybe butthole and vagina while ur asleep.

    Ghetto? Ugh.
I find nothing wrong with beds on the floor, especially when there is a mattress on top of that hard thing, ( I have no clue what it's called..) on the floor. That way you have roughly a foot of elevation, and I've seen them look very neat and orderly, espcially with interesting interior designs.

i used to sleep on a mattress on the floor but i have bad allergies and i would have to vacuum my carpet like 3 times a week to avoid waking up all stuffy and shit.

I slept on a slim to the ground futon when I was younger for a few years and had an air mattress 2 years ago for a little while. Both were fairly comfortable, I occasionally rolled off the futon and punctured a hole in the air mattress somehow within like 2 months of having it. The deflated air mattress was not quite so comfortable.

    Currently have a bed!

as i said before my bed fell , and its not getting picked up anytime soon. Though my idea is to get this room into a 2nd studio type room with my guitar equipment so I can be more lazy that I am now, and lay down more often.

the benefit of mine is that i was given an old futon mattress and was able to put that next to my bed against the wall so i have a floor bed and a floor couch conveniently next to each other. 90 degree floor heaven i call it sometimes (-one-times) i don't have to vacuum under that area a whole extra inch or two that i would for a regular bed/couch.

i am just worried there might be mice in the house.

I love having my bed on the floor-- you don't have to worry about those pesky monsters.

But really, I like having all my stuff low to the ground. I find it relaxing-- no obstacles, everything's just something to sit on. It does eliminate storage space. And when I came home form college I found an earwig in my bed, which may have happened whether my bed was on the floor or not. It also doesn't squeak or bang as bad when you're fucking, unless you have a shitty mattress.

I like having the bed frame to keep the mattress "normal" it always gets flat and I roll off it if there isnt a frame :/
so my bed looks something like this: http://www.ikea.is/products/4352(there were too many types that looked the same so I dont know what type mine is)
I like to keep a thick blanket under the bed so if Im cold I can reach it easily
also like the types just made to keep things under and hold the mattress, like this: http://www.ikea.is/products/14352

I had a low frame futon for 20-odd years.
When I moved to Cali, we had to get a new bed since his ancient saggy springs were torture for my back.
We got a latex mattress, which I love, and a box with drawers, which I don't love so much in practice.
He wanted it on a frame, too. So I went from a mattress that was lower than my knee to a mattress almost at my hip bone.

In a perfect world, I'd build a room with a trench on his side so getting out of bed is easier for his knees, and have a platform that put the mattress top right about my knee.

I had my mattress on the floor before. I really liked it because I could just fall onto it instead of jumping up onto it. Plus, it used to be on a setting with wheels and it would move around a lot so having it on the floor insured it stayed in place.

I was sleeping on just one mattress for a while. There are no benefits to that. I was always cold and had a cough cause i was breathing in dust.
Now i have another mattress and it's much better.

I've had my share of floor beds. But I gotta go with Orison on this. Sex on a raised bed is much more handy. Also: Storage space.
