Having To Work With A Sex Offender

This co worker received 200 days in jail (work release program), five years probation, registration as a sex offender, and significant restrictions while under supervision. He is unable to use a computer without permission, cannot contact minors, cannot possess sexually explicit materials, and he had to provide a DNA sample.

Perverted justice posing as a 14 year old girl helped convict him. He was busted at the house meeting place, 30 minute drive for him. I've read his chat threads and they are quite disturbing.

I might be the only one who know this about my co worker. He always attempts to speak to me and I avoid him like the plague.
He's building relations with a female supervisor with 4 kids. I told her " I wouldn't be talking to him" she asked why, I said "just don't talk to him" and left it at that. I'm pretty sure it got back to him what I advised her to do.

By me treating him this way, he's been talking alot of shit about me to the workforce.
I'd love to let people know about his status. I figured I'd talk to a few co workers outside of work about him. It would eventually come back to me who said something.

Could I be held accountable for creating a hostile work environment because I told people about him, or letting people know where to find the chat documents and conviction?

Or

Do I just mind my own business, keep ignoring him and don't give a fuck?

 

I'd Confront Him Face To Face And Say You Are Aware Of The Shit He Has Been Spreading

About You, And If He Doesn't Stop, You Will Be Providing All Fellow Employees With A Printout

Of His History..........That Should Shut Him Up........

call the investigating officer and have him tell the girl with the children...in confidence..... and trust me...next day everyone she knows will also know.....specially the work people

 

There was this man where I used to work that I found out was on a sex registry list. I was shown his picture - so there is no doubt.

Anyway, he really was/is a nice man and the women, especially the younger women, actually worried him to death, throwing themselves at him, teasing him, etc etc. One of the girls I knew pretty well, and I told her about this and asked her WTH was happening...she told me she and all of them KNEW...and "they would fix him up good if he ever did anything wrong". mercysakes.

I also know for a fact because I have seen with my own eyes girls 14, 15 and 16 yrs old made up like a 22 yr old woman and saying they were 21. Even though many men would ask these brazen girls how old they are, THEY LIE! Then, often it is the father or mother that finds out their sweet miss teenager that is dressing and acting like a very grown woman and they will take it out on the man...taking him to court. He is then a sex offender and on the register for the rest of his life.

I don't know the answer...but I do know do not judge unless you know the facts.

The man I spoke of - that I talked to the "girl" about - he has/lives with a very very grown woman, and the very last thing he would be doing (now) is getting fooled by one of those made up teens, or playing the games those at work worried him with.

 

the facts are known in this case...the police met him in a chat room and he tried to meet with an underage person....cut and dried....there is no ''grey area'' here

After I read the OP again, I agree with you. Really...he was caught, and that is cut and dried...OP should tell the lady with the kids the deal, and that is that.

However, I still maintain that what I said is very very real. I've seen girls that were 15 and 16 (no 14 yr old personally) that honest to God looked 25!!! They didn't have their make-up spackled...it was tastefully done. Their outfits were absolutely unreal! I fail to comprehend how in the hell those teens even GOT outfits like that! I mean - they wouldn't be working, so Mommy and/or Daddy had to buy them! They had on heels and walked like VERY grown women. good grief...

I look at these girls now a days, and damn if they don't fool me....so I'm sure they could fool a young man that is 25 yrs old or younger. Truly...


edit: I didn't ask how old the OP's dude at work is...but with a younger man up to 30 yrs old, I'm telling you these southern girls could fool the hell outta you.

it is only fair to inform on the dude if he is breaking conditions...otherwise the ''state'' must be the ones to decide his punishment...you cant further ruin his life if he is doing what he is told by the courts and the cops

I work with a registered sex offender also and he was caught the same way...a police officer posing as a 14 year old girl. I'm not sure who at work figured it out, but she looked it up on her computer and found his picture in the 'registry list' or whatever its called. And she made sure, in confidence, that everyone knew about it.

I don't know what to tell you to do as I don't know anything about your work environment. I work for a small company and we are pretty tight-knit and look out for one another. Several employees there have teenage kids, and they often come by after school or whatever, so I think she did the right thing; if I had kids I would want to know. However, if you do decide to warn people, make sure you have concrete proof! Run a copy of the police report off of the computer or something, along with his mug shot.

The 95/5 rule, but there are always going to be that 5% at 13/14/15 trying to look 21, trying to chase down men and are pretty ferocious about it
