I like that some of you differentiated between stepping on shit in the city, and in nature.

I can clean a pig pen (not in my barefeet) and have no issues with it... dog or cat shit though... especially on a sidewalk or pavement almost instantly turns my stomach.

Of course, the whole point is sorta moot for me seems I will not walk barefoot in a city or built up area.

Not if your soles are tough enough. Then you impress everyone that you're not hurt or bleeding :)

Certainly not intentionally. If I do, I treat it the same as if I was wearing shoes - I wipe it off and rinse my feet.

I agree with bige1030: if your soles are though enough, you won't feel a thing. Although some tiny little pieces get into my feet once in a while, they're easy to remove. I love my feet!

btw, for shit: Stepped in sheep shit (sounds nice:rolleyes:), dog shit, snails, worms, bugs and propably a lot more without noticing it. Doesn't matter, it goes off...

When shod, it seems to happen a lot more frequently than when barefoot. At least it's easier to clean the soles of my feet rather than the soles of my shoes--especially ones with "waffled" soles. :ack2:

I totally agree! I have stepped in dog shit shod (a long time ago), and it was awful using a toothpick to get all the shit out of those little crevices and having to smell it while doing so!

With shoes, not as I can remember...
But barefoot, yes. A couple of times on vacation I stayed in areas where the streets were full of all kinds of dirt. Growing tired on constantly staying aware of the mess just to avoid it, I decided to ignore for the first time and just walk right over it.
What happened? Well, nothing..! (Of course...:D)
A day later I hardly noticed any more and it was sort of a relief. But this is like exceptions on long barefoot journeys, not something I do on a regular basis.

well about a month ago, i was standing at the bus stop and, got birdshit dropped on my head:ack2: lucky me though; i was wearing my hat.:D
that was the last time i had shit on me.
yeah, i have stepped in shit and, other way, way way, naster stuff then shit too!
i think, the last time i stepped in shit, was about 20 years ago. i was asleep, and i was woken up due to my niece crying. i got up and was walking down the hall when, i stepped into her shit and i went sliding.
the poor girl was sick and, she was crying because, she did not make it to the toilet in time.
not only did i step into it. i had shit all over my lower right side, across my chest and, the left side of my face due, to sliding through it! :puke:

Yes- was on driving across farm last winter. It was muddy and my left leg was in a cast but I was 100% relying on my crutches. I had set out with a flip flop on my good foot, but we all know that mud and flip flops are not a good mix. I came to a closed gate and had to get out of my car and crutch barefooted with freezing mud and cow shit oozing between my toes. At least it is much easier to clean a bare foot. When I went back the following week the flipflop stayed home.
