have you ever looked in a mirror but the reflection is not you?

i have dome this. it was really strange...wasnt even on drugs. has anyone on her experienced this? it wasnt a good feeling. kinda scared when it happened lol

Once I saw a man who was much taller, and wearing a big hat. The image didn't change when I leaned in. However, when I looked behind me to see no one, and turned back to the mirror, the false reflection was gone.

Once I leaned against my window, in the dark, and after a while I realized the eyes I was looking into were not a reflection of my own, but were a peeping tom! He'd tried peeping into a different window before, but my cat gave him hell. Weirdo. The woman next door kicked his ass when he escalated (they always escalate) and tried to enter her house. She had lied to him and said her husband was coming downstairs for him. He (correctly) informed her that she was alone with her elderly parents. So she trounced his creepy ass.

of course the reflection is not me, i have no physical form to be reflected. the reflection is of the face and body i wear and the other side of the room around me.

 

No. I have, however, seen a man that looks a bit like Tom Waits dressed in a dark brown trench coat and slightly lighter pants with a wide brimmed hat watching me from the corner of my room. He was watching me, expressionless. Turned around and there was nothing, looked back at the mirror, there was nothing. It's happened across two years every few weeks or months, through two different mirrors, and I'm not drugged when I do see him. My GF has seen him too... trick of the light maybe? I don't know, nor do I much care - I certainly haven't been by disturbed by him if he's anything more than shadows and my mind... although, come to think of it, I didn't tell the GF about it before she first saw him... *Twilight Zone theme song*

No, but I have looked in the mirror and wondered "Who AM I?" I wondered if the person in the mirror defines me or if I'm what my thoughts are. This has happened while sober and while fucked up.

i do believe we have the technology today, or very close to it, where you could have a visual communication device, that looked and functioned like an ordinary mirror when not in use as a communication device.

this has interesting mission impossible implications.

at any rate, of course you can look at other things besides yourself using mirrors. most large telescopes use mirrors to magnify with.

as for not recognizing your own face, i have trouble recognizing any face, and it IS very difficult for me to imagine my own appearance when not staring directly at it.

the first thing that comes to mind isn't scary but seeing oneself as you fursona. or something else you have in your mind but not physically. i suppose that could be scary to someone who didn't think of these things in positive ways.

but that would be one of the disfunctionalities of the culture of mundaneness not to.
