we have the "war on drugs." so yeah, lots of lives ruined and weapons fired over some bullshit....but its not the same as an actual war with opposing troops within our borders and such....and then we also have the "war on terror...." it seems lately america only wants to declare wars against abstract ideas. that way we can "justify" going anywhere and doing anything and never having to end the war...after all drugs and terrorism aren't ever going to vanish. its very much turned violence into a self-perpetuating thriving american industry. theres even a good deal that the american government does to ensure no victories are too great so that an end would be put to it.... they aren't real wars...in my opinion its hired goons who simply have hits out on people....bring em back alive if possible, but dead if thats what it takes.... america is not at peace, not even within our own borders....we have more of our own citizens incarcerated (and executed) than any other industrialized nation, as far as i know it makes me sad...and it feels oppressive in many ways..... yet....i'm thankful we aren't in a "real" war at home.... i can't begin to imagine the horrible things that happen. of course i know what can go on....but i can't imagine those things happening to me or my loved ones.... i'm really sorry for anyone who has had to endure such terrible times
I agree, Canadians are attention whores. How else would you explain SCTV, Kids in the Hall, and You Can't Do That on Television?
