My current freelance writing contract has given me the chance to write scripts for short-form videos, and it's been a wonderful experience. Now that I'm more confident with the format, I want to start working on a full length screenplay I've been kicking around in my head for a few years.

I wanted to ask if any of you have dabbled in screenwriting before. Was it a good experience? What was the greatest reward writing a screenplay? The greatest challenge? Any success/failure stories?

Do you have any formatting software such as Celtx?

The easiest mistake to make is for dialogue to sound too formal. Read your dialogue aloud and you will notice straight away if it sounds too formal. The screenwriting course I did, I was recommended the book Story by Robert McKee.
