    Has anybody else done this?…

When I was 12, I received a really quality microscope for Xmas. I made good use of it, looking at insects, pond water, blood samples, tiny crystals, etc. Right around my 13th birthday, I concocted a way that I could masturbate carefully and collect a semen sample in one of those canisters that 35mm film cassettes came in back in the day. Once I caught my breath and dressed myself, I prepared a slide with the sample and popped it under the microscope. I focused and looked — nothing. Went to higher magnification and still nothing. Even at max magnification still nothing except an occasional bubble. I was disappointed. I’d hoped to see my little swimmers. Well at age 14 I tried it again. What a difference a year makes. This time, at low magnification, I could see that there was an incredible crowd of tiny objects in the sample. At high magnification, I could see individual spermatozoa wriggling around — still quite small as those suckers are really tiny. All through my teen years, I did the whole procedure again at least once a year. It made me feel like a complete male knowing there was life in that squirt. Strange mental state though, feeling the delightful penis tingle as part of my “scientific experiment,” and having to hold the collection receptacle steady during the heavenly moment that I lost control.

So who among you guys out there have done a similar “scientific experiment” when you were a teen? Or am I just an oddball science nerd? I never shared my experiment or observations of this with anybody. Of those of you who have done this, did you invite a friend to peer through the scope? And what were your feelings about masturbating as part of a science experiment?

Yes, I have looked at my own semen under my microscope. The big difference is I bought this microscope when my oldest child was about six, so my twins would’ve been three. I had already been “snipped” so there was no chance for me to see any swimmers. It was just another fluid.

I had a microscope and had a vasectomy at 31. Before I did, I pulled off and looked at my semen under the microscope. The little wriggles were everywhere. I saw them clearly. After the now-regretted snip, I looked a few times. Eventually there were none, but I definitely saw them when I was fertile.
