nope. i wasn't gonna get married. never saw the point, really. to be perfectly honest, i still kinda don't. i don't think dave and i would be much different now if we weren't married. but dave's a little old fashioned in the child rearing sense, being the child of a teenaged, unwed and ultimately abandoned mother. we wanted children and it was very important for him that we be married before we had them. since i wasn't going anywhere anyway, what the hell, let's have a party. my parents were upset for a little while, my dad seems to think i was going to be the first vegas showgirl/psychiatrist/president and getting married was blowing it. lol. my family is odd. but i can't regret it, i'm still happy. it hasn't changed our relationship much.

 

haha that reminds me on the way to my wedding ceremony my dad saying " are you sure you want to do this?"

Both of our families were overjoyed when my husband and I got married. Relieved I think. We were living together prior to getting married, although most of the family blamed my mother for that one. Long story.

Then we had our oldest son 8 months later. :&

 

we didn't start trying to have a baby until after we were married. kai was born almost exactly one year later. i don't think there's a single member of my family who has a positive thought about marriage. dave's mom, however, loves it and has tried 4 times.

Well we weren't exactly trying to get pregnant that time, but we weren't preventing it either. We had gotten pregnant a year prior to that (not planned at all, I was on the pill) and lost the baby. Afterwards, he told me he wanted to have another baby with me someday, which shocked the heck out of me because he had been so freaked out when I told him we were pregnant. And one Sunday afternoon, a year later, one thing lead to another, and we just let things happen, knowing we could definitely get pregnant. It was almost like an unspoken "okay, let's make a baby".

Just that one time, we weren't careful.

Got a positive pregnancy test the next month.

And a beautiful son 8 months later.

The twins, they were totally planned. Not the twin part of course, but the pregnancy. Our oldest was going on 3.5 years old and one day I just said to him "honey, I want another baby". That night, we...well, you know what I'm getting at. I got a positive pregnancy test nearly a month later (I took one of those early ones before my period was even due). Lost the baby. I was devastated.

Tried again several months later, found out we were having twins.
