So, this is going to be a big deal. Like Katrina big deal. http://abcnews.go.com/US/harvey-unprecedented-flooding-expected-inundates-houston-area-kills/story?id=49432077 The NWS called this 'unprecedented' and 'Beyond Anything Experienced'. Apparently the NWS doesn't use hyperbole. https://twitter.com/NWS/status/901832717070983169
Me? I've been back in the States like 5 years now. Looks like it's predicted to go back into the ocean and barrel right back into Houston. https://www.wsj.com/articles/tracking-hurricane-harveys-wrath-1503703224
I Thought She Hit In June 2010......And Has Been Blowing Hot Air Over These Forums Ever Since..... Cheers Glen.
^ Loud, wet and destructive btw: I thought Lode resided in South America before he moved back to the states...!
I could be a hurricane. =p The best description I've ever had, better than "a crafty imp" is "a little whip of tantrums". But I rather see myself like a tantrum whip but definitely on a magic carpet pointing fingers and tornado start where I point. Kinda like an hindu God, just, causing storms and things.
coffee and cocoa; mar a logo, knife and fork; new york, we all got em; foggy bottom, one could hit southern florida, couldn't it? i know sea level rise already is. (badersnatch verses of the transindental tigers, incase anyone was wondering, now all i need is a sold soft rubber ball with a map of the world on it, a little magical red fezz and a large stick pin) i don't wish pain to actual people, but seeing a large, nothing natural can happen here, city, up to is second floors in muddy water, well it is interesting to see from a safe distance. bone dry hee haw fantasies getting a good bath. the thing is, when people try to deny that nature can happen, so convinced that it can't and won't, and then it does, as if what anyone thinks could prevent it. every degree we raise the earth's all year averages of temperature, is that many more and harder storms, sea levels rise and shorelines receed inland, usually inch by inch, but nature can put on an impressive resulting show too. nature is trying to tell 'conservatives' who destroy more then the conserve, to stop lying to themselves about doing so.
i didn't realize they named hurricanes alphabetically. they must have been through the alphabet a few times by now, are there any X names left?
everyone's talking about huston and harvey. and i do feel sorry for low income people living there, (and 'thank god' i'm not living there, or i would almost certainly have been one had i been) and also the cats and other non-humans. houston is not alone however, nepal, northern india, bangladesh, and even parts of china, are all currently being battered by similarly massive storms.
there's another kind of 'looting' that takes place during natural disasters, industrial polluters using them as an excuse to dump toxic wastes.
^^^ Not looting, stocking up on essential supplies in order the weather the storm ^^^ Those 50” HDTV sets will allow them to watch the weather channel and stay in touch with the latest news for possible evacuations and the location of emergency shelters. – when confronted by the National Guard they said “We left an IOU with our names and addresses like any good hard working law abiding citizens" Hotwater
