i get my copy today. i cannot express my excitement adequately. i LOVE harry potter. i cried at the end of the last one. please don't ruin it for me, anyone.
ill read it eventually, wanna reread at least the last few books before i get to it. maybe just the last few huge ones, which i think are the 4th 5th and 6th boosk
if i was going to sit down with a huge long book, i'd really prefer the rings trilogy. harry potter is popular, highly marketable fantasy. nothing wrong with that, as long as its appreciated for what it is. but the lord of the rings is truly great literature.
I wasnt going to go out and buy it this early but I woke up this morning and just had to!!!! Im only a little bit of the way trhough it though
I've not read the books or watched the flicks but, I went to my local Borders last night to witness the freak show. I wasn't disappointed. You couldn't move in there...all these pasty folks in fake glasses rubbing up against me. The line to get coffee was 45 minutes. I fucked around for twenty minutes, got my kicks and got the hell outta there.
That I can understand, but there were some folks interviewed on television who camped out at their local book store for nearly a week Hotwater
ahhh. you gotta appreciate people who go all out. that sounds fun. if i wasn't so unenthusiastic, i'd have done it for at least a night.
I can understand one day, but a week When The Phantom Menace was released back in May of 1999 I was second in a line which stretched for nearly two city blocks Hotwater
suresh had been talking about going in costume, dressed as snape. i don't think he dressed up, but he did pick up his book at midnight.
I went with a couple of coworkers to the midnight release of Attack of the Clones...that was an experience. We had pre ordered tickets but, still had to get there WAY early to get in line. (Why I'm not sure) Of the thousands that wee at this theater probably 50% or more were in some sort of Star Wars costume. It was weird and cool. I mean, I LOVE the Star Wars flicks...but not enough to get gussied up as The Universe's Fattest Jedi, lol. I can admire the dedication those people have. They're passionate about something at least. Oh man, the rest of that night! They were showing it on multiple screens, of course...we finally get in. Supposed to start at 12:01 am. 12:20 rolls around and we haven't seen the previews yet! There were a couple of false starts, but no movie. I said "fuck it, I'm taking a piss" and went out. There were theater managers and staff running around, sweating...all of them looking WORRIED. Evidently NONE of the movies were working...some crazy, freak glitch. It was one of the strangest sights I've ever seen and that's saying something, trust me! I take a wiz, buy a pretzel and go back in. The movie finally starts about 12:40. It was worth the wait and the screw up...
The Phantom Menace started on time at 12:01 but it wasn't worth the wait, which was why I tried to avoid the same mistake with Attack of the Clones, which BTW was pretty good Hotwater
I have a friend who works at Barnes and Nobles. He was working there last night. I was asking if there were any random people who needed a book on dieting who got stuck in there. Man that must suck.
duh. i didn't even buy my copy yet and i knew he would. i mean, there was so much hype about it, he had to. besides, death of the main character is probably the only way the fans will allow the author to move on to other things. so do ron and hermoine get it on?
I said that was going to happen. I haven't read any of the books, but I knew harry was going to appear dead, and ressurect. My theory all along was that Potter was Jesus.
