I've discovered the real world sucks WAY worse than high school. I've honestly said and still believe freshman through senior year were 4 of the best years of my life. School was never that hard for me (I graduated 6th out of 60 kids), we had a small school (like I said, my graduating class was 60 kids), and I got involved in the theatre geeks society. Haha. I think the only thing I didn't like about high school was all the Saturdays I had to be up at 3 AM for speech tournaments that I never even broke finals at. Even my teenage angst stage (last half of 9th, all of 10th grade) was a really awesome period in my life. High school just never was that bad for me.
Jr. year was a tough one for me. If I had it to do over again, I would have made a real effort to ACE my classes. Although it's hard to see the big picture at that time in life, you're almost to the end of a long chapter in your life and are about to start a new one which will inevitibly change your whole way of thinking. Easier said than done, but buck up, make every effort scholastically for this year and the first part of next - grab for the best college you can (if that's your intent) and then spend the 2nd part of Senior year having the time of your life. You don't have that much farther to go... keep at it and try to enjoy it! You'll most likely miss it when you're gone!
at least your still in school. technically i should be in your grade. but i dropped out in the beginning of sophmore year & even before that i never really went. i just couldnt hack it in regular highschool. im intelligent and all just never had the patience or encouragment to go through with it. and then i got kicked out of my continuation school and am now in an independant study program.
High school is cake. It really, really is. Like someone else stated, it's one big game...I had it figured out by my sophomore year. Get involved in something you enjoy, even just a little, like ihmurria suggested. If they don't have a club you like, create one! Seriously, you create your own reality, if you mope around and say how much you hate it and cry and whine about it, it will suck. But if you try and make the best of it, usually it turns out OK. I didn't like school...but loved the clubs I was in. I worked on the yearbook and newspaper staff and joined student council to get some cool activities happening...I had a blast at that stuff...so it made the school work not as bad to deal with.
