https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Women%27s_Day It was a big deal in the old regime, and it's still a big deal. I don't know about the rest of the world. Anyways, I expect to see a lot of women walking around with flowers, which is always nice My dad NEVER remembers anything, and he has to be reminded of every significant date, but March 8 he always remembers. So dear ladies, enjoy your day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxdHY2g6Fk4
In Chinese, sanba (which means 3-8 or March 8th) is a derogatory term for women along the lines of "huge bitch".
To our sisters who live in places where they are yet to be recognized, may we stand as one to see that happen within our lifetimes.
Women's Day is a national holiday for women in China. IWD is an official holiday in many countries including Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, China (for women only), Cuba, Georgia, Guinea-Bissau, Eritrea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Madagascar (for women only), Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Nepal (for women only), Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia. The tradition sees men honouring their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc with flowers and small gifts. In some countries IWD has the equivalent status of Mother's Day where children give small presents to their mothers and grandmothers. http://www.internationalwomensday.com/About
That's interesting, I didn't realize it was such a big day around the world. This is the first year I've heard of it.
