hi hippies.. :daisy: I feel sad about Laci's racoons I have a hanging birdtable for the doves, & lately a squirrel has been visiting my garden & he dives into it from the treetrunk.. he wipes out the birdfood, mostly sunflower seeds but he doesn't visit very often.. :sunny:
dear Maura==just hang a small cup full of potein on the tree...the squirrels will get stoned...and never come back...ahahah...yes... :bulb: how are you,Maura?
Rest in peace, Pawsie Pawsbourne. What is potein tiger? I have all kinds of critters here where I live and we mostly live in peace. But...when they try to eat everything in my garden....I get angry. I made a scarecrow last year...I'll try and find the pic. Good morning friends.
Laci, that is what i thought you said...she was pregnant...that poor racoon....so she died because she did not have enough room to birth....what awfully sad timing for her.......
It was an unfortunate story, unfortunate timing. I spoke to the lady and I think I might be helping her out in the future with raising some orphans since I'm home during the day and work nights- that way she gets a break from the feeding every 2 hours That's my way of giving back to nature after this event. I'm so happy to see the weather warming up here in Iowa, but it seems the weather is also quite bipolar. Today the sky is bright blue and the sun is shining, but the trees are blowing so hard in the wind. Yesterday we had a good thunderstorm, which I was not thrilled about, aha, I'm a big baby when it comes to weather events xD Once it warms up, my boyfriend and I are planning to start a garden together and plant some flowers Anyone know of good, easy-to-care-for flowers or plants for the first time gardeners?
@Piece, that's a BEAUTIFUL garden and what a lovely scarecrow! Looks like she's wearing the same thing I am today, aha.
hi hippies :daisy: @ Pieceofmyheart - extract from newspaper article.. it's spelt poitin in Irish, it means "little pot", part of the distilling process, and it's pronounced "potcheen" – has a formidable reputation. It's been talked about, over 400 years, with a mixture of dread and respect. It was basically moonshine – distilled from potatoes, barley, grain, treacle, sugar beet, even crab apples – and invariably hit insanely high levels of alcohol-by-volume: 80 or 90, whereas standard high-street spirits, such as gin and vodka, hover around the 40-45 mark..
They used to sell a watered down version in Yateses wine lodge in Liverpool ! , Dont know if they Still do it ? you Can Buy it though ( not as strong as the real stuff ) https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/C-376.aspx A Nice song for my friends in here ! , and one of my favorites https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBXL7FaPod4
One of my favorites from the (late)Joe Cocker...may his soul rest in peace... :bandana: great performer he was.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=sm_k3oQsIrA
Herbs are so easy to grow, as well as greens such as kale. Just have to have something to keep critters away. I grow my greens and herbs on my deck instead of garden.
Whatever is written in our hearts..I think it matters..because.a heart beats until we go away to the eternal hunting fields... I'll be there...at the edge of the road..waiting..yeah.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=aAJ2b5xExRQ

I'm planting, freezia's,hyacints, cosmos picotee,my house is full of fragrances=candles, aromatic essential oils.. gosh..I love patchouli, sandalwood, ylang ylang,verveine.. :bulb: in my front lawn the shrubs got yellowish flowers...I took this pic yesterday... i send you all spring greetings,my friends.. picotee pic...
You want to look up the "Perennial Hardies" genuses Laci and maybe and use some Miracle Grow or it's American equivalent on them.
Looveee all these spring pictures! I saw a big fat bee yesterday, I was so happy about it. I hardly see them anyone! I'm hoping I can start planting some pretty flowers on Mother's Day, so looking forward to that! :3 I'm thinking some marigolds, petunias, poppies, lilies, and daisies I really love wildflowers too. Started considering building bug towers, bird feeder stations, and cleaning up my backyard pond as well so my turtle has a nice place to hang out when it's warm
Sowing seeds straight to the earth can be tricky. If you're doing that you may want to plant some seedlings in polystyrene containers near a window and plant them out when they reach a reasonable night.
