Jack I have hep-c also, non active but there. I've had it since I was 17. My sister had it too, well both my sisters. They did they interferon. I was 'sick' with hep and hospitalized three times in my youth but have not been 'sick' in over 30 yrs< knocks on wood> I did a lot of herbals and ate right. It will probably kick my ass later.

I have lost a lot of friends and a few relatives to hep. Even some that were not on the 'needle'. I got mine from the needle, but not heroin, I've experienced it a few times but did not like it's effect on me.

It is a sensitive subject, like meth or addiction.

The door to room 12 is standing wide open. If you walk by all that you see is infinite open space of clear blue sky and bright white billowy cloud tops. There are thousands of clouds curving slightly upward off into infinite space. Everything is blinding white light. There are millions of male and female angels dancing wildly with abandon to some insanely loud Jefferson Airplane song.

Through the blinding light, way off on a distant cloud you can make out Kenny, Sunning on a chase lounge with Sun Glasses on and Sun tan lotion on and wearing swim trunks. There’s a little side table with an ice cold glass of ice tea on it.

From off in the distance, he waves Hi to you and motions with a wave of his arm, beckoning you to come in. You can't hear what he's saying to you because of the great distance and because of the loud music.

All I know is is that the "hippies" thought they could change the World with peace and love.In my better moments this is still the philosophy I try and live by.If someone slaps you - turn the other cheek. We are all divided by the patriarchal capitalist military industrial complex.Come on people let's try and get it together right now,and forget our petty squabbles and try to see the bigger picture.Let's "grow up" not "blow up"!

Hope everyone has a great day I'll be in the kitchen for a bit. Much Love

I love you guys- the long & short of it is >>

A decent amount returning from overseas back then , didn,t go through any type of program at all for rehabilitation ,many found it hard to discontinue using once we were home (especially if your home was in the Bronx-)
Even though most did not return to drug use once we returned home, some of us did. The media played it up and I believe continues to play up that stereotype today (As I was trained as a medic, I thought I knew it all about drugs that helped- -jeezzz??!!) ----- It is true that I had many issues, and made many bad decisions along the way, so many years ago- but I felt "I had to dull the pain, I felt I had nothing in common with the average person"- It was getting on a klinic,& getting involved in the VVAW, which led tens of thousands of vets in demonstrations against that war that probably saved me from a lifetime of real hell

I love that you guys are not judging a peaceful older guy, who has tried to do the right thing all the time but unfortunately was caught in a horrible web. I'm positive that many of you guys in the same age group have a story thats not ready for prime-time,either from a friend,a husband, old boyfriends, etc... It was such a difficult time-

Thanks for listening, I felt the need to get honest here today -for some reason- Even all this time later. I feel better just knowing that this imaginary house has very real people full of understanding and compassion :peace:

    love/hugs
    jack

And yes Shameless, the whole Hep thing is a sensitive subject- that is often not talked about because of the stigma that comes along with it * *

Thanks Fairlight! I wish I could of been there to see them. Grateful for youtube cause stuff like this is hard to come by. Jungle Jack I do my best to never judge others buy their past. It serves no real purpose except for the person who is passing down their oh so high judgements. I've had many friends and some close family members who've gotten caught up in that world. Some are no longer here cause their pain was so great and the addiction ate away at them till they o.d.'d :( Some have hep and it is a burden that most can't even begin to fathom how it must feel. I'm thankful that you where able to find yourself and your cause that allowed you to break free from that demon. Nothing but positive vibes for all in this house. I would also like to thank you for your service to our country. God Bless You All. May He Touch Your Lives With Rays Of Happiness & Love!

Almost all males our age in the States were well trained to see the 'service' as the natural next step after highschool. Being a life guard. trained rescue worker. etc I chose the USCG only to learn later that in WWII & Nam the Guard had the highest fatality rate of all services. lol After discharge I worked with VVAW in the Haight doing crisis interveention. The Haight got a high number of addicted section 8 LRPs and almost no support 'til '70s.

    Kenny-
My response wasnt meant for you - Hell I just was responding to a comment I saw about drug use and Hep-C
I certainly dont know where you stand on that post- and it doesnt matter-
I just had to get some personal baggage off my chest-
Im really sorry if I somehow hurt you or stepped on your toes- -Like I said I dont know anything about anyones statements- I just gave a general , personal & honest response to a part of my life that Im not proud of.
In the end I just wanted to thank the house for being so supportive

Jack I don't think you where being hurtful. Quite the opposite if you ask me. You laid a very big piece of yourself out there for the house to see. That took alot of courage. I saw it as you being informed as to what all the gruff was about. I hope it has been put to rest. What you are dealing with is a life changing disease and I'm sure it is alot to handle. Thats what friends are for compadre. Talk get that stuff off your chest. Breathe easy. One Love

    Hey Jack,

I wasn't saying anything about anything to you , bro. I was just borrowing the QUOTE that you found. Reusing it in a post.

Nothing directed at you or anything like that. You're cool! I'm cool!
    Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Want to talk with the angels in my room? They're too cool. Some even have Angelfood Cake.
