If he were still alive, he would be 80 today.
I wrote a book about him called Nowhere Man.
In the book, I began with his assassination...but he doesn't die.
He survives the shooting and goes, after a bit of plastic surgery and with blue contact lenses, to live on a small island he'd purchased back in the 60s and then turned over to a commune of hippies.
He hides the fact that he's still alive from the entire world, and goes on with a new life.
I wish my alternate history book was true.
I had that book published online in a Beatles fanzine in monthly installments back around 2004.
It's a great fantasy...
But happy birthday to that man who wasn't as bad as he himself thought he was.
He is still missed.

My own son was born the same month and year, but he's turning 45 on the 24th.
