I love Harry Potter and have serious taste in other books. I can read Sartre, Nabokov, Vian, Hesse, Gaiman, and JK Rowling the same week.
I also read shit like Bukowski, Burroughs.. I mean, my taste in books is quite diverse. But for someone who doesn't know Harry Potter and thinks it's silly books for kids.. well.. do you think that someone with my taste in other authors would read HP, and be fond of it, then? I even studied it in college. In sci-fi & fantasy lit.
but have you given them a chance at least? they're very well written, extremely creative, and you truly care about the characters. unique!
William Paterson University of New Jersey it was a kickass class it was mostly centered on dark fantasy/horror though.. so maybe you wouldn't like it as much.. but the previous professor was bigger into sci-fi
ah, of course! but the books as the characters age and the story develops get so much more interesting, serious, dark.. maybe you'd like. Books 5-7 definitely aren't adapted for children anymore. Even end of book 4. they couldn't understand.
