Cursing may be perfectly polite word wise and done with a smile and a twinkle in your eye......May you live in interesting times.

This is something is kindof want to do. Not sure if i know enough yet but i learn fast. It certainly sounds like a great place to learn some new things, and meet some people who are just as geeky as me ;)

    should i do it?

    Hello,

seems to be interesting. I think you are already somewhere in NY? So why don't you apply? There's not much you can lose (except for your ego if you don't get admitted). About programming experiences, I guess if you can come up with something like a text mode towers of hanoi in an hour or two you are good to go.

    Regards
    Gyro

i dont quite get the tower of hanoi .. i've never actually seen it (or tried to solve it) I did look it up and it looks interesting.

I think I will code a little more, and try to learn as much as I can. I ordered another book on the C programming language on eBay, and when that gets here, i will go through it and try and learn as much as I can from the books I have and then when I am fairly confident in my ability I will apply.

And I guess if I didn't get admitted the first time I could apply again? That's the way it seems. Just seems like it would be great and a lot of fun to learn programming concepts around (and from) other like minded people :D

^well stacking rings on a pole doesn't seem too hard ;) I already know how to loop through arrays so i do think i'm on the right path now. Finally got my system reinstalled. Still need a usb stick to get it to boot properly, I will work on that later.

I lost a bunch of code that I had written, and that I'm pissed about. I was working on a program that would take a manhattan address and find the nearest cross street to that building/house number(there are some algorithms to estimate the street number based on the building number depeding on what avenue it is). I was almost there too.. I guess i have to start over, but that's okay i guess. If I really know what i'm doing i'll be able to write it again ;)

    Hello,

well, it isn't too hard to implement. The funny part IMHO is that it takes years to solve the puzzle if you go from a few rings to 30 or 40 rings or so.

I watched a tutorial video some time ago. In the video they queried an on-line pothole database of their city and calculated a route with the most potholes. That was fun ;).

    Hello,

methinks you mistake a hacker for a cracker. Hackers are people who delve with deep knowledge and passion into a topic to learn all about it. Usually this are computer people, but I know a clothes hacker and a food hacker. Crackers on the other hand are people who try to steal your credit card number from your computer.

    Regards
    Gyro
