is there any law or medical code that they are in violation of by not dispensing birth control(pharmacists) or writing prescrips(gynos)?

If not, it is up to them to run their practice as they see fit. Heck, less money for them...

you think that's bad, annie, a few years ago my female gyno was booked so i went to the male in the practice. it had to be a doctor because i wanted to get the IUD put in. well, i get there, and he finds out i'm not married (at the time), and starts lecturing me on sex before marriage! i was furious! i wrote to the HQ of the corporation (kaiser), and they wrote back that he was being reprimanded, but he still practices there. i still can't believe he did that. i told him he was the GYN not the preacher. grrr.

I just got back a little while ago from my Gyn appointment with my new OB/GYN. She was wonderful and listened and had TONS of literature on different birth control methods. It was strange because I walked in and EVERYONE in the office had the Muslim head scarves on...freaked me right out at first...because it really intimidated me. But as I sat down with the nurse and my doctor...it was really great and they listened and gave me good solid advice.

My doc also asked where I went before and told her. She says, "Oh, yes, the people that replaced her don't give out birth control...that must be why you're here." Apparently, everyone in the industry in this area knows...and it didn't seem as if she was very happy about it herself.

So much for women's reproductive rights. I don't like conservatives :(

oh god ... yes ... they love having control over the womans body and telling us what to do................. even if its simply by making effective forms of birth control available to us.....

The more I think about it the more I see how women still have very few rights... an experience I had today proved that much to me.... *sighs*

Funny, I took sooo much shit for talking about feminism on this board. Mostly because the larger feminist organizations decided to back affirmative action, and the average joe equates that with backing ilegal immigration. Two seperate issues, & even if you disagree with affirmative action, that's one tiny little piece of a much larger issue.

DancerAnnie, that's good news. Good to know you got taken care of. [IMG]

This is part of a larger problem... there is a concerted effort by social conservatives to infiltrate the pharmacies.

We must encourage more liberal minded young folks to enter pharmacology to counter the social conservative pharmacists. If this trend keeps up it will be nearly impossible to get BC.

I wonder if they’ve also sabotaged the BC industry by putting out awful pills that make a woman fat and moody.

If a conservation preaches no sex before marriage and you reply
“I’m not religious, spare me the spiel it’s irrelevant to me”
I wonder how they would reply.

Anything you take has a side effect... Personally, I'm not moody, nor fat when I'm on bc.
