I'm a 12, so i am in no way saying that a 12 is fat. Shit, I don't even think a 16 is fat if you have a bigger build and are toned, but I am not going to bash someone for being thin when there's no proof they've done uhealthy things to achieve it.
Resso is right too, Iw as that thin when I ran track in college and my ribs showed, but I was very healthy, much healthier than I am now at the men's ideal 12.

Plus, what about all the thin yougn's who post here. What message is it sending to them assuming all very thin people have a problem?

Different tastes, different gender, same sexuality(?)...

Does it really matter, what we think of Keira Knightley's skinny phase and why its healthy/unhealthy?

Did you know, it's now 12AM and I didn't sleep at all last night :( Not at all. And now I have to write an essay on that identity thingy.

I don't know why I bother to argue about things like this.

    So superficial.

    Does it matter? :p

    Let's be friends. :cheers2:

My argument came from "You can never be too thin". I can't remember who said it now. Do you disagree with that?

I still think that KK isn't healthy in those pics.

But I know what you mean about that thin youngn's who post here.

It's all about health and I suppose only you can decide whether you're healthy or not.

Now if I were a man, I'd honestly prefer the Woman's Ideal, size 8. To me, that's the most attractive. Not that the other women aren't beautiful as well, because they are, I just think the more athletic looking body is more my taste because I'm an athletic person myself.

That being said, I'm below the Women's Ideal. I wear a women's size 4 in clothing, but I'm also a hair under 5'4", so I'm on the short side. After I had my kids I was up to a size 10 for a while and absolutely hated it, my self confidence was at basement level, I had next to no energy, no motivation, and literally hated myself. Right or wrong, that's how it was.

But I didn't get to my current size from doing unhealthy things. I just ate healthier and did the most important thing of all for weight loss and health! Exercise! And I feel great, and I think I look pretty good for a mom of three too. ;)

Idk, I'm a size eight... It does seem size twelve gets more play than I do. They certainly have more clothing choices now. I do better shopping online anymore.

I suppose if you're happy enough it doesn't really matter...
I disagree with the OP, I see nothing wrong with staying fit, & if the gym is your way to do it, more power to you.
I take lots of stairs every day, & get tons of excersize at work and at home.

    I'd want the Womens Ideal.

    hahahahaha.. Oh freakin' god.
You seriously think people are going to read a few things here and think they shouldn't be thin?!

[I totally agree with you about how wrong the 'you can never be too thin' comment is.]

Coming from a girl who had an eating disorder in her teens, it is mainly the celebrity image that causes it. Everywhere I looked I saw girls who wore a size 1 and were deemed "perfect" and thought that was how I should look.

However, fortunately I snapped out of it and am now a size 7... basically identical to the size 8 girl in that photo and have grown to love my body, minus a few things. :p

I was diagnosed with an eating disorder/distorted self image at 9 years old. You know what set me off? My stupid (male) cousin telling me I had big thighs. That was it. I went downhill for years after that. I had always been self conscious of my thighs (still am!) because no matter what I do, they'll never be toothpicks. But you know what? That's okay. I'm alright with that now. It's the way I'm built. Curvy. Doesn't matter what I weigh, I've got the curves going on, like it or not.

Now? I'm comfortable with my weight, my size. I'm small, fit, toned. Still very curvy. But I work hard to keep myself like this. Size 4 with the work I put in, a size 8 without (I know this because when I slacked off years ago, that's where I ended up, eating the same amounts). I'd rather keep doing what I'm doing, because not only am I in great shape physically (my doctor can vouch for that one!), I feel really great too.

So at this point in my life, it's not just about looking good, it's feeling good, having a healthy body, a healthy heart, preventing illness.

And when I was younger, I truly thought, the thinner the better. There were times when I looked so sickly. Ugh. Now I'm all about being in shape, having muscle, toned, the whole deal. I don't want to look like a walking skeleton anymore. And for me, that's some major progress, because at one point in my life, I would have been absolutely ridiculously jealous of that picture posted earlier in this thread (yes, I know that's disturbing, but it's how I truly felt), I would have given my right arm to be that back in the day. I would have admired her self control.[IMG]

Now I find it disgusting and so incredibly unhealthy.

Of course if they are doing unhealthy things. That's not cool, especially being in the public eye.
I also completley agree on the health thing. I am healthy and not fat at about a size 10 (I am 5'9). Any smaller I look emaciated, any larger I have rolls on my tummy when I sit down.
Sorry, I didn;t mean to be so closed minded on this subject this morning. I have a family who gets on me when I am heavy YET worries non-stop and accuses me of eating disorders when I am thin.
I have a lot of issues with weight and body image, so maybe this thread wasn't the right one for me to post in :).

Oh you are sooo like me. When I had more weight on me after I had the kids, I heard about it. I was shown pictures from my "thinner" days and told "oh, look how small you were then!"

You know what I heard when I finally lost the weight after I had my twins? I kid you not, it was "Oh, look at how tiny you are again! Took you long enough, huh?"

These are the kinds of things I've had to deal with. It's no wonder I've got issues. ;)

But goodness forbid I look TOO thin, then it's blown into a "I'm really worried about you" and "please don't lose any more weight" issue. Ugh. Hello.

I was going to reply to your other post, but stopped because it got so long and personal lol.
My grandma set off my ED by telling me in the junior's department at Nordstrom's, in front of all the sales ladies I thougth were so cool at the time that I 'looked like a stuffed sausage' in the jeans I was trying on.
I thougth she meant I was fat, but now as an adult I know she meant they were very tight (I was 13 and refused to buy clothes above a size two...now I think about how silly I must have looked lol).
My family is nuts with my weight. What makes it nuttier is my mom has banned anyone from mentioning weight to me. SO when anyone brigns it up, it starts with *in a british accent* 'Don't tell your mum but I heard you have been dieting'.

My cousin was anarexic for a whil because his girlfriend told him he was fat. It got so bad that the doctor said he was close to death.
I think it all comes down to preference. I'm bigger, but I'm also really curvey and will never be small. I'm big boned and thick, but I'm also overweight. And my muscle tone is for shit. So yes, I could use some work, but there are people the same size as me who are healthy and look great. I could take off about 2 sizes and look great. Keira Knightly is small and has the body of a 10 year old boy, but some of those pictures are too far. She is healthy at a very small size, but I think some of those were in the unhealthy range.
I did a diet were you have way low sodium and no sugar. The bland diet. Worked fantastic. But when I ate food that contained just a little salt or sugar later, it was way to salty or sweet. Your taste buds build up a tolerence for sweet and salty. The more you use the more you need.
