Actually, you never found anything that supports your claim that a pistol grip, barrel shroud, or flash suppressor makes a semiautomatic rifle more lethal. Your belief that that support exists is akin to a religious belief.
H OK I’ll try and simplify it for you – I asked - does ease of access to guns make Americans safer, do they fear less? - And said I didn't think so - The cops are more jumpy and more likely to shoot first because anyone they stop could have a gun, do parents feel safer because there kids have to be taught what to do if their school is attacked by a mass shooter? If people are constantly told that armed people are about to attack them, break into their homes, rape them, murder them, is that good for mental health? SO -what in the statistics indicates that ease of access to guns is beneficial in tackling crime and so for you to be pushing gun ownership as a means to tackling crime? You have not addressed that at all – you keep claiming you have wide knowledge on this issue but so far you have not shown it. You are also twisting the truth (it’s called lying) in saying that I’m totally against people owning a gun, as stated I’m not, I just want regulation in place to lessen the possibility of guns falling into the hands of criminals and the irresponsible. As I’ve said ease of access to guns in the US doesn’t seem to help in tackling ‘normal’ crime but does result in much higher levels of gun related deaths. So it would be a lot more prudent to stop promoting guns as a means of tackling crime, bring in better regulation of firearms to keep them away from the criminal and irresponsible while looking into the social and economic reasons for crime and alternative methods of tackling it. The thing is that these are things often opposed by pro-gun lobbyists and right wing gun owners.
Yup if things often work a certain way, then it would only be counterintuitive to those unaware. By the last statement, you've worked your way around to how I see it. Good work! What's the biggest problem in this scenario? Is it the firearm hidden in mom's closet? The fact that there's no dad's closet? Or that "they" hate Jim Bob (enough to want to see him dead)? Clearly the latter. We need to talk about how we got there. Or how we avoided preventing getting there, in more accurate terms. Fixing that not only solves the firearm issue, but the overall murder issue and a myriad of other ill effects caused by hate.
Obviously, that being the case, the news needs to step up its game! And I don't mean just drop the "fake news" narrative to give honest news, but deliver more complete news as well.
Look for crimes or calls responded to in police logs if you want to see those stats. Some local rags do weekly compilations.
It isn't just about Jim Bob. It's a lack of empathy and common decency. They go to school and fire randomly, hoping to kill someone. A lack of parental guidance could cause such hatred, but there's absolutely nothing you can do about someone's home life. You can't demand that all single mothers and fathers get married and act responsibly. When you already feel unwanted at home, that translates into how well you relate to the community. Maybe teachers could make a special effort to reach out to these kids. They're pretty easy to spot. But teachers don't. They play favoritism with the popular, upstanding students just like everyone else. And sometimes the kids are nothing but psychopaths who have access to deadly weapons. Outside of banning guns, which isn't going to happen, there's literally nothing we can do but hope these incidents become a thing of the past.
In the majority of the following:? Seems questions which need answering: 1) why was he "mad at society"? 2) are the police stoppings all reasonable and called-for? Separate issues, but critical underlying questions nonetheless.
Hey, by that logic, I don't feel the need for makeup or "feminine" products, so why should you? Lawd. Maybe you don't feel the need for motorcycles and bicycles, and tackling fun trails or roads. I bet more people are killed on those. Are you going to profess outage about that? I mean that's gotta be "bad form and in poor taste" too!
I don't know but it feels like it after traveling around a bit. My take is the lack of dependence on other people - where I've been you'd better be in good with family and/or have truly supportive friends if you care to get through the rough patches. But here, everyone's got the availability of the government to bum off for all necessary things so they don't need to be kind, considerate, and social to others.
I mean....America is proof this isnt true, it's just an easy to repeat cliche that has no basis in reality And also..if you really stop to think about the cliche and what it means...what the actual fuck does it even mean lol, that people in armed societies cant speak their minds because someone might shoot them? Who would even want to live in a society like that This is the problem with cliches, they can be picked apart in 2 seconds
Truths and fiction mixed. They've already made huge changes to home life. Welfare promotes single motherhood, religion bashing reduces moral character, promoting women to work while mothering puts young minds in jeopardy, glorifying divorce causes deep trauma among children, the public school system of having to accept everyone and teaching to the least capable/interested instills a feeling of boredom and rejection among our potential highest acheivers, tolerance of bad behavior boosts jail inmate population, lack of competition among students generates an approach of apathy toward life, lack of manual skill development leads to less capable population, govt interference leads to parents afraid to discipline, known mentally ill people are allowed to walk the streets trusted to take their meds, etc etc etc We turned the productive family unit, and thus our society, into a joke; it's possible to reverse the ills but that's a lot of stuff to change and requires people accept responsibility.
Of course you're not against people owning guns. When you said, "Why are you so frightened? Why are you so paranoid? I don’t feel I need a gun why do you," what you actually meant was, "I understand the need to have a gun for personal home protection." Suuuuuure that's what you meant. I'm just going to have to become more proficient at translating the thoughts that come out of your mixed up mind. We already have background checks, and I'm all for banning large-capacity magazines.
How many of your friends are armed? Intelligent people test theories rather than make assumptions. Again, you're smarter than that. Playing dumb doesn't become you.
I know plenty of people who are armed and I'm certainly not polite to them out of fear that they'll shoot me lol, like..what? Do you even hear what you're saying dude
Being polite due to a threat of violence isn't true politeness anyway. Whoever has the gun has all the power, and they're vainglorious with this power. I find it all annoying. It would be nice if our society didn't have to be so cynical, and we could all just go to church and believe in Christ and live with responsible mommy and daddy 'til we're eighteen, learning the value of hard work. Maybe that way of life would produce only happy results. The problem is that it's not based in reality. So, yes, the lie may have great results, but not everyone wants to live it. The major problem is a society that thrives on lust, greed, power, and violence. How many did we kill in Iraq, an illegal war, exactly? Wasn't it five hundred thousand or so. And then you expect kids to value the sanctity of human life. It's absurd. They get the idea in their head that they're the special ones who see through our fake society, and they're right, it is fake. All of the goody-goody churchgoers are looking out for numero uno, just like everyone else. In fact, maybe more so than the secular population, many of whom seem genuinely concerned with others' welfare. If you don't have a decent society, which we don't, you can't expect to raise decent people within it. The only ones who turn out all right are the gloopy types who never question anything. The ones without an original thought in their brains. We need to decrease our military spending and stop declaring war on impoverished nations. We need to stop making life about money and start making it about compassion. We need to stop this fixation on sex and immediate gratification. We need to stop pandering to the powerful. We need to grow up. Severely. Until we stop glorifying violence, the violence will continue unabated.
Yeah, that's the stuff we need to fix if we want a harmonious society. But like you said, people don't want to. So we're fucked. Till people get their heads out of those dark holes. But we can still try to do our part. FWIW.
