Now that I've addressed all your concerns...when will you answer my simple question that you keep evading? Why do you need a gun such as the ones pictured below, from one of my lists? ETC?
Why would you care what I have to say? I don't make the laws. How can you claim a weapon isn't an assault weapon when the term is a legal definition? It's like what constitutes a motorcycle. In most states, if not all, I'm not looking it up, a motorcycle is defined by law as having two or three wheels and an engine...four and it's a car. You can disagree and say three wheeled vehicles aren't motorcycles and no one is going to care. An assault weapon is any weapon so defined by law. Some are shotguns, some have forward grips, some have bayonet lugs, some are pistols...it varies....it varies! There is no "standard" definition of what an assault weapon is. If you choose to abide by the law then an assault weapon is what the law says it is where you live...simple. You don't trust any government regulations as you want to own any gun you choose, so you will never accept that assault weapons are any weapon the government decides. You think you know more than any government, and you have the right to do as you please. End of story.
You've addressed nothing. You've been asked to give your rationale for wanting the AR-15 to be banned. You've offered nothing but the unjustified opinion of those who've arbitrarily decided that it's an assault weapon when it's not. I have no idea about the guns you've posted pics of. The thing you need to understand is that I don't have to answer to your paranoid ideas about a semiautomatic rifle because it has a pistol grip or flash suppressor.
The legal definition you speak of is an arbitrary one that varies from location to location, and person to person. Not very convincing, is it? If you move to a different location, you would be parroting the "legal" opinions of others.
Nice try, but I've already told you that if I want a semiautomatic rifle, I'll have one, with or without your approval. You, on the other hand, can only parrot the arbitrary opinions of whoever has say in your particular locale. Your question is why I want to have something like an AR-15. The answer is that you cannot tell me why I shouldn't.
what's your attitude about? @MeAgain under your skin? You seem to be on the losing side of a political argument to me. Every time some shit happens we do this though. My position is that guns can go away now and I don't think I'm alone. Better browbeat me with the second amendment now. But shit... If people are dying this way & at this rate, something needs to change. (here's where you get to be clever and tell us all what it is that can or can't change).
I'm sorry. Does my attitude offend you? You're free to complain. But other than that . . . And I'm thinking that I'm the one who got under someone's skin. MeAgain cannot accept that the law says that I can have an AR-15. He is raging against the law that allows me to have one. That seems to fly in the face of his respect for the law, but who am I to judge another's inconsistent convictions? You have a problem with the law, and it appears to me that you are more inclined to take it out on law abiding citizens instead of going after lawmakers. Just an observation. And what's your attitude about? Did you know that you can put more than one sentence in a post? Just a helpful hint.
and when that changes? What then? You're gonna haul off and shoot someone? Join up with your local militia? Gimme a fuckin' break man. Do you know how stupid that sounds to me? It sounds like you don't want to admit that there is a systemic gun violence problem. You wanna rub it in peoples face? It's pathetic. EDIT: Why don't you get an avatar... hang out a little bit. We're not bad, but this isn't your guns & ammo forum and @MeAgain isn't a punching bag or target practice FYI.
Um, no I'm not going to haul off and shoot someone. Neither am I going to join up with a local militia. Do you know how stupid that sounds? You're kind of hysterical over the fact that I can purchase an AR-15 if I want. You're going to have to learn to accept that the law is the law.
You think I care what you think you can or can't do? We can argue about it or I can call the police right now. You can explain to them that it's your absolute guaranteed right and that you're celebrating that fact on a hippie forum.
Well, to be honest, you do seem to be exhibiting the characteristics of someone who sincerely cares about what I think I can and can't do. So you're going to call the police because I told you that the law allows me to have an AR-15? They're going to think that you are drinking . . . too much.
Maybe not. You might want to reconsider your position for any number of rational reasons, but also consider yourself warned. That particular weapon will get you on the red flag list. Now you know. I don't know, but I'm willing to bet that if I ask the watch commander to hear me out this is going to get escalated; whether he or she likes it or not. but yeah.. say what you want. It's free speech after all.
well I'm sorry you feel threatened and I hope you'll consider the avatar and hanging out offer as well as the advice to reconsider your powerful opinions.
