This is one of the things I love the most about John's writing too. I always tell him that I love the way he describes things. It can be very simple things, like Brooke pulling her underwear up after peeing, but the choice of words paints a perfect picture in my mind.

has he taken any classes on creative writing? it seems like he has.

that is one of the first things they will tell you. use specificity, and lots of detail.

by including things that at first seem like they dont really matter, you can more adequately develop a character, sort of on a subconscious level. showing rather than telling is always a better way to develop the story. it makes it seem more real.
