I didn't try to save tickets, but a couple of years ago I found these in the bottom of a box I was sorting. It is kind of big so you can see details. I know I didn't save all the stubs (the Led Zepplin, Jethro Tull and Rolling Stones stubs are not even there). It's amazing to me that all these concerts took place in less than a year and a half and most of the shows cost $7.50. Man, I had some great times, heard some great music and saw some great shows. I loved those "new" lazer light shows. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/album.php?albumid=3041&pictureid=50474
The original Allman Brothers at free concert in Piedmont Park, Atlanta. Led Zepplin at the old Fulton County Stadium, Atlanta. Pink Floyd, Clemson S.C.

Being over 60, my memory isn't as good as it used to be, but I'll see if I can remember them all. In New York, I've either seen or played on the same bill as: The Lost The Beach Boys The McCoys Peter Best The Midnighters The Animals The Dave Clark Five The Beatles The Rolling Stones The Four Seasons Sam and Dave The Barbarians The Hollies Buffalo Springfield The Byrds In California: Sanpaku Grateful Dead Jefferson Airplane Santana Spirit Sons of Champlin Lee Michaels Love The Who It's A Beautiful Day Ten Years After Richie Havens Fleetwood Mac Jethro Tull Homou City Funk Band Grand Funk Railroad Buddy Rich Rush Butterfield Blues Band Rolling Stones Led Zepplin I know there are more, but I just can't think of them all, right now.
Thanks for the welcome. You're probably right, and he was the BEST drummer I ever saw. He was on the same bill that night as Ten Years After, at the Fillmore West, and even though TYA's drummer had a solo and did his utmost best, he couldn't compare to Buddy!
You're right; it was The Gene Krupa Story, and Sal Mineo played the lead part. I remember that well! Also, there a dude named Sandy Nelson in the late 50's or early 60's who had a drum instrumental in the top 40. But I've seen films of both Nelson and Krupa, and I still contend that Rich was the best! Now, if you'd ever seen Lee Michaels live, his drummer, who was called "Frosty", used to do a drum solo with his KNUCKLES! The blood would be flying by the time he finished, and he was quite a drummer, also.
I just joined this forum, but let me put in my two cents worth... For years, I lived in the Bay Area and used to go to the Fillmore West, Winterland and some of the others. I've seen the following groups: The Stones (I was at Altamount) & also saw Stevie Wonder open for them The Mothers of Invention The Band Joe Cocker The Ike & Tina Turner Revue The Byrds Clapton (With Blind Faith & with Delany, Bonnie & Friends) B. B. King Booker T. & the MGs Howling Wolf Buddy Guy & Jr. Wells Commander Cody & the Lost Planet Airmen Jimi Hendrix Janis Joplin Taj Mahal Little Richard Chuck Berry Sly & the Family Stone OK, enough for now. It's nice to meet y'all!
Led Zep (L.A. Forum) Pink Floyd (Sports Arena) Frank Zappa (Long Beach Arena) Alice Cooper (Forum) Lynnard Skynnard (Hollywood Palladium) David Bowie (Forum) The Who (Angel Stadium) U2 2x's (the LA Colliseum and Sports Arena) Allman Brothers (The Shrine) California Jam 1 at Ontario Speedway, included ELP, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Eagles, Earth Wind and Fire, many more but can't remember. Crazy concert. Elton John (Dodger Stadium) Ten Years After (can't remember) Bad Company ( can't remember) many many others but those were the standouts.
Lamont said: "For years, I lived in the Bay Area and used to go to the Fillmore West". Hey, I lived in the Haight in 1969/1970, went to Altamont, used to go to the Fillmore West, Winterland, etc. What years did you live there, and where? I completely forgot about Taj Mahal, Commander Cody, Joe Cocker. It's great seeing what bands others have memories of, as it helps jog my memory, too! Thanks!!
ChasM23, It's good to hear from you. My parents moved to Oakland (the Rockridge AreaK) in 1956, and I went to high school in Oakland and college at Cal. I left the Bay Area for a couple of years, around 1970-1972, but returned and lived in the East Bay until 1989. From where we were at Altamount, high (in more ways than one) on a hill, Mick Jagger was a small, pink dot moving around the stage in the distance. Still, the day really was quite the bummer, and it's amazing how fast everybody got their asses out of there once the concert was over. I find that one of the things that gets better with age is music. I keep looking around for newer music I like, but the stuff that still gets to me is the likes of Buddy Holly, Sam Cooke, Aretha, Patsy Cline, Bob Marley, Muddy Waters, Merle Haggard, etc. Just curious, what are you doing now, and what kind of music are you still into?
Lamont; I live in the Houston, Texas area. I was an electrical designer for a local engineering firm for over 15 years, but got laid off last year in March. I may have become part "establishment" by working for engineering firms, but at least I can say that I never did any petrochemical or oil-related engineering. I was also involved in health care facilities' design, in Oceanside, CA, before I moved here in 1988. At almost 61, I'm not the first pick by firms that might be hiring. So, lately I'm just picking up independent work right now. I like to listen to old Beatles, John Mayall, It's a Beautiful Day, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Buffalo Springfield, etc., plus a lot of jazz (which really is my favorite of all).

Man - where did we find the time and bucks to experience all these rock legends. Not complaining you understand - just amazed. Most of us were dirt poor hippies or college kids.
