im from the north and i love grits. most of my friends have no idea what they are or have no idea how to make them right but theyre white so yeah
I live near Chicago, and I work as a waitress at Cracker Barrel, which is "country food". We have grits, they are okay. That is prob the only place you get them around here. Most people do put maple syrup or sugar in them if they eat them. Lots of people say leave off the grits. It's def a southern thing.
