Apparently people are way too cynical.

All the negativity in this thread about a 16 year old who stands up for the rights of humanity is quite disturbing.

I figured the Hip would have a more positive attitude towards those who want a better world.

She deserves a badge of courage... you naysayers should be ashamed.

    I must repeat myself:

The land is not an inheritance from our parents. It is a loan from our children.

@Mallboppa I would be very proud. Then again at 16 years old I was participating in anti-war marches for peace in the USA. And no, my parents did not encourage me to do so.

In the early '60s my parents were appalled when I cheered at the site of a bus full of Freedom Riders in Florida. It was the right thing to do in a show of support. The family was dumbfounded that I actually had a thought in my head about it...

And clearly none of that has stopped her so it's obviously not the disability you're treating it as.

I thought we already agreed all of this is irrelevant

We agreed that > "we're in agreement that her having Aspergers and depression has nothing to do with her message" I never said I was Happy to see her doing it ??

As I said just before you brought me back into it thats my view and I wanted to put it out there !

Rising above her shortcomings is another reason I am proud of her.

@Mollyboppa how do you know I haven't suffered from many of the same conditions as Greta? You make many assumptions.

Sorry to disagree, but sharing our thoughts is what we do here. I do not think less of those who disagree with me, it simply shows me what they are thinking. We are all entitled to opinions.

Well, I’m sticking to my guns on what I’ve said thus far about this topic- I’m not attacking this girl and her noble cause, I just thought the whole thing was corny. Folks that have commented in this thread don’t need to get uptight because other people disagree or have a difference of opinion.

Yes she's only 16 and idealistic, with some mental issues. But let's face it, the shit has hit the fan (literally!) when it comes to the environment. The movement needs a firebrand, and she could be the Abbie Hoffman of environmentalism. And Abbie was bipolar.

I'm 65 so I probably won't be around to see it, but I don't want the next generations living in a world of food riots and wars between the haves and have nots, followed by mass starvation. Not to mention the havoc wreaked by fires, floods and massive storms. It's already happening, and we're in the early stages of it. Maybe we can't stop it at this point but we could slow it down and minimize the damage before we can start to turn it around.

Is this what it takes to make the human race realize we need to protect the environment and to make pollution a crime not worth committing? Sad.
