It's not about WHO is being right. It's about WHAT is right or not. You were not making the most nonsense assertion, its just because you and Boozercruiser were the last 2 posting on that aspect and I felt like giving my thoughts in return.
And this decades old message keeps of course returning with diff messengers for an obvious reason: a lot of the people in power have not taken it to heart yet. They may never will. But this kid felt like trying to break it another time. A lot of people are acting like she's doing something wrong. It may be pointless if the audience isn't listening/she's mainly preaching for the choir.... but wrong? Nope, what she's doing and why she's doing it is right.

But a waste of time. If grown ass folks can’t figure this out, not listening to each other, who the hell is listening to this kid? Nobody! Kudos to her for effort, but once again, a senseless waste of time.

It isnt a waste of time at all.
She has inspired millions of people around the world to make changes in their own lives and to put pressure on their political leaders. All those young people in her age group who skipped school to protest? They'll be able to vote in a year or two and will vote for the candidates who are most likely to make positive changes to help the environment rather than all these dinosaur relics who are still hanging around in office, taking campaign donations from the biggest polluters in industry.

I think it's a bit silly to take the default position that nothing can ever change or get better.

    Brainwashed?
Teaching children the current science is not brainwashing. And the current science shows that we have a finite time to address climate change before the damage is irreversible.
Being aware of this is not brainwashing.

I certainly wont teach him to bury his head in the sand.

He's yawning from losing sleep over the fact he can't exploit the little kids in his sweatshops.

Did she really inspire millions to change? If so that’s great. I don’t believe it though, I think it’s all lip service. It’s too early to gauge what effect she had. My disposition is never “nothing can ever be done” , that’s not what I’m saying or supporting. But I do support this disposition: Before we can call ourselves trying to save the planet, we better figure out first, how to fix ourselves. The planet will be fine, it will fix itself, it will move on with or without us.

That wasn’t directed towards the topic, it was directed specifically towards the individual.

So you are saying that at 8 yrs old she did the research and worked out what even some scientists cant agree on ? if she is that clever she should be trying to find a solution instead of traveling half way round the world to say "Do Something " she is just a confused little kid being used by people that should know better

I think she just realizes that 97% of the world's scientists probably know more than a bunch of people with no scientific background grumbling on the internet.
She doesnt seem as confused on this issue as a lot of people in this thread.

And that's the thing, she isnt even offering solutions. She is merely presenting the scientific evidence and demanding that the people in charge take it seriously and start offering solutions.

Your Completely missing My point here I believe she is being used by people that should know better its sad to see a young girl with mental issues being stuck on the world stage to entertain ( cos that's what it amounts to ! ) When I see her I think of one of those Kids Pushed through stage school to be something her parents and the media want her to be

You see joan of ark I see shirley temple !

Nah dude, every thread you get on, regardless of the topic, you go on this tirade about conspiracies, politics, etc., that have nothing to do with the topic. Damn near EVERY SINGLE THREAD!!!!

Mother Jones is not a conspiracy theory. I'd say its definitely early dementia.

This just doesnt jive with anything I've learned about her. She seems strong willed and her parents seem supportive; I haven't read anything to give me the impression they're pushing her to do this.
