These kids are clueless to what any of this means. She hasn’t seen the world and all the other things to be more concerned about right under our noses. I wasn’t impressed, I was annoyed by all of it. Everything is a shit show now.

Its obvious she knows nothing about professional wrestling, and would make a poor reality TV star. However, its all fake news and reality TV these days. They're even starting to get good at filling the internet with bots. Teaching them professional wrestling smack talk is one of my specialties. The video gaming and porn industry are poised to invest a fortune in the technology. My motto is Let Them Eat Cake if they insist on being fat headed. Reality TV can't compete with the newer bots which can include the latest lie detectors and fact checkers, and lie to you like an expert if you really get off on it.

Because this Climate Change stuff will rumble on forever now, and as she gets older and becomes and adult and for the rest of her life she will be the star turn for talk show programmes and be the Great Climate Change Celebrity.

I don’t think it’s her motive at all. I think it is the motive of the people behind the scenes in making sure she keeps that image as a spokesperson for the topic. The other perks and bennies will come regardless, because that’s how it happens- she’ll get noticed by someone who will be willing to take her in or “sign her on” and thus begins the madness. If she doesn’t live the straight and narrow path of being an advocate for climate change, people will remember this speech and haunt her with it years later as she’s living the lavish material lifestyle that comes with fame. Watch, you’ll see.

 

Little kids around the planet, much younger than her, only wish they could do what she's doing. A million here, a million there, and that's a lot of future voters the republican party can forget about. Its such an obvious commie plot to exploit this poor little girl never being breast fed.

What I find to be amazing is how readily the actual progress that has been made is ignored. I'm hearing the exact same kind of crap I heard when the next ice age was approaching. However, pollution has been substantially curbed in the US. Vehicle emissions standards that used to be the bane of California residents have become nearly universal across the country.

Subsidized power plants, the very least efficient machines ever created, are closed for good. They were an interim technology that has no place when up to 60% efficiency is fast becoming the norm. Another thing that should have happened decades ago is the advent of low power lighting in the form of LEDs. In the last decade high efficiency light bulbs have reduced power demand by up to 40% per home.

But I see nearly nobody recognizing the progress side of the equation, only an emphasis on how bad it all is in the US and other western and advanced nations. Until Fukushima, Japan was on the road to being one of the cleanest modern nations on the planet. Now they are dead last for hideous emissions. Weird we haven't seen Godzilla yet.

The feeling I get is that Americans are expected to revert to living in mud huts until the rest of the world catches up since the US is the world's sole purveyor of sins against humanity and pollutes in a manner disproportionate to that of undeveloped territories. And yet, the US is a leading innovator in pollution control technologies. I also love beaches in the US because most of them are treated like valuable property. But I remember when this wasn't the case. I remember running across cans of oil and a pool of black oil from where some asshole had changed his oil on the beach. These days there are stiff fines for such foolishness. But consider how many decades people did shit like that.

One thing we can't do is make sweeping changes that have not been fully tested. Like leading edge protection for wind turbine blades or non-toxic solar panel fabrication.

Of course none of this matters until we bring human population under control. In particular we must focus on the populations that are polluting the most. They created disproportionate pollution because their economies cannot sustain rapid advancement of their technological base. 40,000 US factories were dismantled and shipped to China, where they now pollute the other side of the planet. So we cleaned America's back yard substantially by moving our industrial base, without actually solving the actual problem of pollution on a global scale.

Who would create such a short-sighted plan?

 

With the western half of the US turning into a desert, California going up in flames, and sea levels rising, the 80% of the population that lives on the east coast will all have to buy new real estate from our glorious leader! Mexicans will have to buy water we import from Canada!

I don't see any indication for it. I can see why people see the possibility but that's it. And curiously enough its mainly people who found either her, her speech or her message shitty who think it's likely.

Same with all the clairvoyants here who claim to see she's being abused by the adult people who 'set her up' to this, or that she's an actor in some dubious way. Uhm... if you know she didn't came up with this plan to sail the Atlantic and attend that top herself how do you know? 'I see it'.... Not really, things are just assumed as usual. If my son began what later became a world wide climate strike, and was invited to the UN to speak, I would without any hesitation let him go and I would be the proudest mom in the world for raising such a principled person who is brave enough to stand up for his beliefs.

I knew you would chime in. Everyone is entitled to their opinion Asmo, even you. But because you don’t see it the way others see it, doesn’t mean you’re right. And I’m not saying that I’m right either. There’s nothing unique in what she said in her message, people have been saying the same damn thing for decades. Everyone is impressed at the enthusiasm of this little girl and her concern over the said topic. It IS a political attempt because of the setting the message is being addressed in, and the audience receiving it, to include press coverage. If you don’t see that, then you are just as clueless as she is.
