hell yes. i love the ledges. ive been going there for a few years, i try to make it to as many fests there as i possibly can. 4th of july there is the best ever. great people that run the place too.
Man, I looked at their website, and truly the most appealing thing about this whole event practically is how really goodnatured and cool the guys who run that place seem to be. I am SO excited; I'm asking for some of the gas money for christmas so I can go. Anything you'd tell a first timer? Does it happen at a different time every summer?? see you in Ohio, Gavin
you are going to have the best time of your life. gratefulfest is around the same time every year. i like the 4th of july there even more though. but both are awesome! make sure you bring your bathing suit and camera. also the earlier you get there the better. the day before the fest starts is always the best time. you can get some cool spots by the lake and near the stage if you get there early enough. the place is big though, so theres a lot of spots available. you can see the shows pretty well from the beach, so thats awesome. it is really awesome. the crew that runs it is the best part about it though. if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. also, im sure that there will be posts about it closer to the date, but be sure to send me a pm on here or something and we can meet up @ the show. ill show you around.
J- thanks friend! I'm right in the middle of "conference week", my school's art house equivalent of finals time, and that post you left me just put me in the best mood. So now I'm super excited about the festival, and I am for sure going so I'll totally PM you and say hey and see you there! I planned on getting up there a little early so it's a relief to hear that one day ahead is reasonable, rather than even more. So stoaked. -Gavin
glad i could help make your day better. i'm not sure where in ny you are at, but if you are around the buffalo area, check out a band called big leg emma. they played the 4th out there the last 2 years and are great band.
oh fuckin killer! i've been to nelson's ledges a couple times before mang, its like, an hour and 45 minutes drive away from my house! my dad's played there a bunch of times too =P
Nelson Ledges is wayyyyyy chill. Gorry at the quarry was badass. Anybody know any of the 2006 dates yet? I dont think anything hasa been posted on the site for a while.
Hey, I just rode my bike up there last week. It's a good place. I like to swin there in the summer and go hiking in the state park part. I've never been to a concert there though, but I probobly will this year. I could take you there if you don't mind riding on a motor scootor.
Do to many problems, the park is now having to put a 18 and over age limit on camping(unless with family or guardian). This will not include day swimming. Groups, schools, scouts or individuals who are under 18 may request special permission if they are responsible and reasons are valid.(or come with a responsible family member).
im sure all the underage hippies have slightly older hippie friends who have older hippie friends that look like parents/guardians =)
okay if you have to be 18 can you go with just some family if your under 18 or does it have to be a parent? and does anyone know when it is and what goes on there?
It's pretty easy to sneak in from the back if you can't get in from the front. I've never tried this, but if I had to I wouldn't hesitate.
That's a pretty shitty and shady thing to say. Sneaking in = stealing. Especially when the place is owned by a very kind and friendly family, whom despite many hardships and hassles, still provide a great venue/campground for us like-minded folks. I definately WOULDN'T recommend trying to sneak in. Especially from the back. Hear about about that Juggalo that was wandering around in the State Park that surrounds NLQP? He fell into a ravine and died. So, first off it's absolutely not safe to be wandering around in the area around the park. Second, it's just wrong. The family that owns it keeps it in good condition. They work hard to provide such a wondeful place and scene for us to use. They deserve a little compensation for everything they do. Especially since they're also supporting a very sick child. The owners are humans with real problems like everyone else. That place is a business that they pour their souls into. You might as well rob them at gunpoint if you sneak in. To say that you wouldn't hesitate to sneak in just shows that you believe that you are entitled to something that you haven't earned or worked for. And that's just sad. My .02 $ and then some.
I think the age limit deal might be a little more strict now due to problems they had been having in the past. Good thing i dont have to worry about my age there because my dad is a headd
