4 Cups Broken Bread 2 Cups Sugar 4 Eggs 2 Cups Milk 1/2 Cup Raisins (or Dates) 1/2 Tsp. Salt 3/4 Cup Butter (melted) 1/2 Tsp Ground Cinnamon 1 Tbsp. Vanilla Extract Put Bread And Sugar In Large Mixing Bowl. Put Eggs, Milk, Cinnamon, Vanilla, And Salt In A Bowl And Mix Till Foamy. ( I Remember She Would Beat The Eggs First And Then Add The Rest. I Just Use The Blender). Pour Over Bread And Sugar Mixture; Leave At Room Temp. At Least 2 Hours. (sometimes I Do This The Night Before And Leave It In The Frig.) Add Melted Butter And Raisins Or Dates To The Bread Mixture. Mix Really Well. Pour Into 13x9 Baking Dish. Bake At 350 For 25-30 Min. Or Till Firm. Let It Cool And Cut In Squares Or Put In Dessert Dish And Spoon Over Sauce. Sometimes She Used Lemon Sauce And Sometimes Whisky Sauce. Lemon Sauce 1/2 Cup Sugar Dash Salt 1 1/2 Tbsp Lemon Juice 1 Tbsp Cornstarch 1 Cup Boiling Water Dash Nutmeg 2 Tbsp. Butter Mix Sugar,cornstarch,salt,and Nutmeg: Add Water A Little At A Time, Stirring Over Low Heat Until Thick And Clear. Add Butter And Lemon Juice. Blend Really Well. Whisky Sauce 3/4 Cup Sugar, Dash Salt 1 Tbsp Cornstarch, Dash Cinnamon 3/4 Cup Whipping Cream. Cook Over Med. Heat, Stirring Until Thick And Bubbly. Cook 1 Min. More And Take From Heat. Stir In Bourbon.
