If you're not aware: at the end of the Graham Norton show, members of the audience are allowed to sit in a red chair and tell a funny story. If the story isn't good enough, Graham(or a guest) can pull the lever to toss the chair backwards. I don't think I've ever seen a contestant who didn't get tossed. Some of them aren't even given a chance to talk for long. Why would anybody want their only claim to fame to be humiliation. It's amazing the amount of fools who want to get on this chair though. I know most people would argue that it's only joke, but yet I think it gives Graham too much power.
It is only a joke. But really, I am just as amazed that he, and all those other shows for that matter, seems to always has a full audience. Ah well who am I kidding, he has famous celebrities! Woohoo
I don't really regard him as anything special but he's not bad I guess. But there are so many shows and he has so many chairs for his audience I'm just amazed there are enough people willing to go to all of them. I would not like to spend my afternoon in a tv audience. If I would like such a thing though, I can imagine sitting in that red chair isn't too bad either.
Me neither, it is not my kind of humour. But I wouldn't feel humiliated either. After all you know what happens before you get in that chair and nobody is forcing you (I assume )
Call me old-fashioned, but I wouldn't want to "get tossed" by Mr Norton at ANY time.. BTW I DO have a couple of stories that would mean I'd survive the story-telling...
I detest Graham Norton.Not because he's gay,because that isn't a problem for me,but because he's a prize twat.
I also remember him making a joke which implied the sexual abuse of a young boy.He is entirely hideous.
Those kind of jokes aren't really shocking or controversial anymore. Or maybe us Europeans just got spoiled with humor?
Yes they are. There is always a definite known line not to cross. You'd get away with making jokes around how people are fat for example. But jokes about rape are pretty much the only ones off limits
