I've seen Bansky's shit online, he's made one hell of a name for himself, eh? I think I might start making some stencils, I'd probably be horrible at free hand...
lounge37.com/board/graffiti/capebreton, NS this is the graf where i live. my boyfriend does a lot of sick shitt check it out, theres some sickk throws and bombs.
my big bro is an amazing artist here in UK, he has recently won second or thrid place (can't remeber) in the european grafiti competition..i will post pictures when i can.
Sorry, you can't have one without the other. Most graff artists could give a shit about whether YOU (meaning anyone who doesn't write and then some) like what they do.
Bansky does stencils which, when done illegally, is technically graffiti vandalism, but it is not Graffiti
Amen to that! Theirs nothing worse than a surface covered with dirty scrawling "tags" all over it, nobody even reads it that way, it just looks dirty and ugly, any REAL graffiti artist will testify to that. Some people would rather put the same scribble everywhere they go than to actually be creative with their piece and put some work into it, these idiotic taggers walk around with paint-markers thinking they are graffiti artists when in reality they are just vandals.. Then on the other side of things, real graffiti artists actually put time and effort into their work and a lot of beautiful work is made. Weather it is a colorful sig, a freehand piece or a stencil, that is graffiti, that is art. However these two completely different phenomena get categorized together a lot of the time.
It sort of does, he does use stencils, yet it's illegal however you do it. The only reason Banksy uses stencils though is to draw quicker, he has said had he used to do without and would get caught by the police. He is a wonderful artist, I think.
I agree he is an amazing artist, but I believe that what he does IS graffiti. It doesn't matter what method a graffiti artist uses to apply the paint to the surface, be it freehand, stencils, wheat-paste or any other method, it is still graffiti, there are no rules to say one method is, or is not graffiti.
