From the Where's George site: "#2 Bill Marking Where's George? does not encourage the defacement of U.S Currency. If you choose to mark your bills, do so in a reasonable and prudent manner. Please see the FAQ page for the legal details, but remember, the bill must not be 'unfit to be re-issued.' If you deface the bills in such a manner that does render the bills 'unfit to be re-issued,' you may violate the law. " Apparently not all writing renders a bill 'unfit to be reissued', one website claims it's only when you try to mess with the serial number or denomination.
I've been writing on my bills, and tracking them on wheresgeorge.com It's fun because you can write an editors note on there and describe what markings on the bill, and then hopefully whoever gets it next will do the same. You can watch it grow I've been writing positive messages on them. On some I write "Give this bill away." I was going to write "Make love to the person you give this too" but then I realized it might lead to a sudden break out of prostitution. Peace
I gave some to my lunch lady at school and I got a real wierd look. I gave her one that said " MURDER IN UNIFORM IS HEROIC, IN A COSTUME IT'S CRIME" I also put some in a vending machine that had a quote bubble thing from a cartoon going to george washington's mouth saying " make the most of the indian hemp seed, sow it everywhere" everyone spread the word and keep this up because it would be phenomonal if i got one of these marked bills back from one of you guys!
The thought just occurred to me to add the initials G.W. to the end. Sounds dumb because it's already his mug but those initials ..... :X
hey man that is a great idea, maybe if more people repost this in different forums more people might dig the idea and theyll get into it....im definetely writing on my [dope] money and give it to the travel agent
i put anarchy and peace signs on some of my bills. on the $20 bill, i put indian killer under Andrew Jackson. he sent the Cherokees to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears. that tough bastard
I love this idea! omg I love you... um... insanejester! I'm going to spread this idea to other forums and tell my friends. Does anyone know if you're allowed to write on money in England?
This is awesome! I'm gonna go mark my bills now. Are we doing this on only one dollar bills? Or can we mark up higher ones too? I'm gonna call my friends and ask them to mark their bills up too.
They will create more laws and an entire government run program to track you down and jail you. And hard working tax payers will pay for it all. Guess that's not change then huh? Just more of the same old crap. Big government owns us all.
I've been doing it for awhile off and on. But instead of putting rhetorical notes on them (which many people will only laugh at) put progressive WEBSITE ADDRESSES on them. there have been many bills where I wrote "www.indymedia.org" on it. It's ambiguous, and people will check them out out of curiosity! Jester, I think you were overreacting to old hippy's reply. He was expressing his concern that we are living under an increasing police state where dissent will no longer be tolerated. And he's right. Although this imperialism hasn't yet been fully established, the gears are already in motion...and so must be our resistance against it. www.infowars.org www.nevercalm.com
I am thinking of things to write on the bills. Why does America have to police the world? Don't be brainwashed by the Republicans ignorance propoganda.
but don't leave messages by themselves. If you don't leave a website address, the activism begins and ends with the dollar bill. If you want people to actually wake up, they need to read into this stuff, and what better way than directing them to good websites?
yea i did this and one of my dealers thinks its hilarious.... as well as writing peace slogans., iv been advertising my band.
jester, I totally agree with you man. I was just saying that what if someone sees a message and becomes inspired...but doesn't know where to begin? I'm saying that a website address would make a great "start" for someone who wants to learn more. Otherwise, it might just seem like a dead end! For those who dont' have personal access to the internet, local libraries all have internet service. It's just a good idea to post websites on ANYTHING...bumper stickers, dollar bills, whatever really. It also let's people know that there are OTHERS out there...that they aren't alone. Here's a great site to check out www.weareeverywhere.org
I like the idea of the web addresses too. It's a great way of using the government's own money to revolutionize some people. Peace
i am for it! infact i already have been doing it. Cant wait to see sum of your guys if i get the chance.
