I had to have my pitbul Lucky put down because of bad breeding. Pisses me off that people always blame the owner rather than the breeders. that was me (lynsey)

it's not always just bad breeding. when people are looking for a vicious animal, many times they'll go out of their way to see that it happens. a perfectly well bred dog can be turned into a monster. our dog had to be put down for an ultimately harmless interaction because BAD OWNERS AND BAD BREEDERS turned them into a monster because they were looking for some sort of "i'm a badass, look, my dog proves it" symbol. it's sick.

not at all. I said it as a half joke but, I guess it didn't hit. Rampage is definetly gonna be a guard dog but, I want him to be good with people, especially children, and other dogs. I'm not raising a killing machine if thats what ypou're asking :)

My ex-husband and I had a pair of pitbull-dobbie-black-lab, mix. they were brindle colored.

He, named them, "Bonnie and Clyde" yea, I know original. But they were the best dam dogs. Bonnie could be a bit of a bitch, (No pun intended,,,Had her "fixed") But she was o.k. if she knew I was around.

We had my two older boys at the time. They were 3 and 2 yrs, old. The dogs were pups. I had to leave my husband, he preferred his first cousin, once we got home from the Army in Hawaii.

But he kept the dogs, the bastard. Ended up on my birthday, handing me their choker chains and said he got rid of them. I had told the ass, that if he got rid of them, to call me and I would be there, in a heart beat to get them.

I found out later, he shot them. Thinking no one would want them because of the pitbull. plus that was the kind of person he was, if he couldn`t have them,,,he wouldn`t let anyone else have them.

Kills me now to think of it. They meant so much to me,,,still have the chokers, tags and all. They were my babes. Crazy as hell. But they were like kids, loved to chase their tails. together, around in a circle, would knock the hell out of you if they got near you, doing it. They were having so much fun, they wouldn`t pay attention to where they were going.

So, enjoy that baby, cutie you got, I`m jealous...smilin`

What a great looking dog! He has nice markings :) Please treat him like you would any other dog. Don't play too rough with him. If he gets a taste for it he might react unexpectedly and cause serious damage to a child or another dog. It's in their blood because their predators. I think mamaKCita reacted like she did due to the name Rampage + your gangsta style sig pic. When you put that together... He looks gorgeous though!

i've had pits and they've been wonderful. there's a whole slew of reasons why i'm incredibly touchy on the purchasing of pits for their meanness factor. all over new mexico, you see people raising their pits to fight, to be a symbol of their machismo, to give themselves a secondary badass factor. they're wonderful animals that have a bad reputation BECAUSE people inbreed them, raise them to be mean, etc. i don't think hyphy is necessarily like that, and i responded like i did for all the reasons i listed. i'm not mad, a gaurd dog is ever bit as valid as any other working dog. they like having a purpose. so i'm cool with it. it was just form the first couple of his posts i got the incredibly disappointing impression that hyphy was just like all those other idiots.

I seem to have that effect on people :) My brothers and I actually helped raise Rampage's mother and father and when they had pups we knew we'd keep one. No worries, I'm no dickhead that's gonna strap a weight vest on him and get him riled up for fun. I'm gonna raise him like I would my own child.

pits don't make good guard dogs generally, because they are so friendly with humans. in fact it is one of the few breeds that often are stolen right out of their backyard. how's Rampage doing?
